Your baby does not need to sleep the whole time, your toddler does not need to sit still, and your home does not need to be picture-perfect for newborn photos to work.
I photograph newborns in my light-filled Kirkland studio and in homes throughout the Seattle area. Each session follows your baby’s comfort, with time for feeding, soothing, changing, and the normal pauses newborns need.
I’ve photographed Eastside families since 2008. My approach is simple: keep your baby safe and comfortable, guide the posing, and adjust to what your baby or older child needs that day.
You are not expected to manage the session while also caring for a newborn. I watch how your baby responds, bring siblings in when the timing is right, and change direction when someone needs a break. That may lead us from a solo baby portrait to photographs in your arms, sibling moments, or a full-family image—without expecting everything to go exactly as planned.
The result is a natural, timeless record of these early days that you’ll want to print, share, and return to as your baby grows.
How Newborn Sessions Work with Real Baby Life
I follow your baby’s cues and adjust as needed. We may pause for feeding, change the setup, simplify a pose, or photograph your baby in your arms until they settle.
Awake time or extra soothing does not mean the session is off track. We continue with the photographs your baby is comfortable giving us that day.
I use gentle posing and watch your baby’s response. If a position is not working, I adjust it or move to another setup rather than pushing for one particular photograph.
There is more than one way to create a beautiful newborn portrait.
I guide the posing and small adjustments throughout the session. That may mean changing an angle, moving a hand, helping everyone stand closer, or showing an older sibling exactly where to sit.
You can focus on your baby while I pay attention to how the photograph is coming together.
Sibling photographs may come from a quick snuggle, a kiss on the baby’s head, sitting nearby for a few seconds, or another small interaction your child can manage.
I watch for those brief opportunities so parents do not have to force smiles or cooperation.
In-home sessions can make the day easier when you are recovering, including pets, managing older children, or photographing a baby who is past the earliest posed-newborn stage.
The setting changes the logistics, the amount of styling, and the types of photographs we can create.
Booking near your due date places you on my newborn calendar. After your baby arrives, we choose the appointment date based on your recovery, your baby’s age, and the session you booked.
This gives you a plan before birth without locking you into a date that may no longer make sense once your baby is here.
A made bed, cleared nightstands, and a small amount of decluttering in the likely photography areas are usually more helpful than cleaning the entire house.
Your home can still feel like your home. It does not need to become a styled photo set.
In-home clients receive practical help with clothing and the few rooms we are most likely to use. You will not be asked to prepare every part of the house.
Clear preparation reduces last-minute decisions and lets you save more of your energy for your baby and family.

In-home newborn sessions are for families who want to stay home during the early weeks. This can make the day easier when you are recovering, including pets, managing older siblings, or photographing a baby who is past the earliest posed-newborn stage.
Both options follow your baby’s needs and include direction throughout. The difference is the setting, the amount of styling, and whether you want your home and daily surroundings to become part of the photographs.

What the session looks like
We will create a mix of gently posed baby portraits, parent images, sibling photographs, family portraits, and newborn details.
The session includes five to ten setups with two color themes of your choice, along with wrapped and unwrapped photographs of your baby.
There is time for feeding, changing, soothing, and settling as we move through the session.
Choose this when
Choose Studio Deluxe for the widest range of newborn photographs in a single appointment.
It makes sense when parent, sibling, and family images matter as much as the posed baby portraits, or when you want enough variety for an album and framed wall art.
Another option may make more sense when
Choose Baby In Your Arms when the photographs you care about most are the ones with your baby held close and multiple prop setups are not important.
Choose Mini Wrapped when you want a smaller collection centered on wrapped baby portraits.
Choose In-Home Lifestyle when staying home or including your living space matters more than styled newborn setups.

25 hand-edited high-resolution digital images chosen by you from a proof gallery of 60 to 80 images.
Additional hand-edited images are available for $20 each.
All the family images from the proof gallery, with color edit, are available for $200. This does not include posed solo photographs of the baby with props.

Included for all purchased images, allowing unlimited personal printing.
Session duration
Up to three hours, allowing time for feeding, changing, and comforting your baby as needed.

This session includes natural and posed photographs of your baby in five to ten setups, with two color themes of your choice.
We will also photograph gently guided parent, sibling, and family portraits. Nursing photographs are included when requested. Grandparents and pets may also be included.

It also makes sense when your baby is older, you want less emphasis on props, or you prefer a shorter appointment.
Another option may make more sense when
Choose Studio Deluxe when you want multiple styled setups, posed baby portraits, sibling and family photographs, and the broadest range of images.
Choose Mini Wrapped when you mainly want solo wrapped portraits of your baby.

We photograph three wrapped setups using studio wraps, blankets, baskets, headbands, bonnets, and other simple newborn props.
The session stays centered on your baby, with one coordinated color direction throughout.

Choose Mini Wrapped when you want professional posed newborn portraits but do not need the broader range or longer appointment included with Studio Deluxe.
It also makes sense when you want a smaller set of baby photographs and prefer to add parent or sibling images only when needed.
Another option may make more sense when
Choose Studio Deluxe when you want wrapped and unwrapped photographs, several setups, parent images, sibling and full-family portraits, and more variety.
Choose Baby In Your Arms when photographs of you holding your baby are more important than solo posed portraits.

We include the nursery, bedroom, nursing photographs when requested, and the small details that connect the images to your home.
The posing remains gentle and directed, but the finished photographs feel more lived-in than the styled studio sessions.
Choose this when
Choose In-Home Lifestyle when staying home would make the day easier or when your home is part of what you want to remember.
It is especially useful when including pets, photographing older siblings in familiar surroundings, or scheduling newborn photos for an older baby, up to 3 months old.
Another option may make more sense when
Choose Studio Deluxe when you want multiple posed baby setups, wraps, props, and the widest range of studio photographs.
Choose Baby In Your Arms when you want simple parent-baby images in a prepared studio setting.

It is still worth reaching out. If your baby is already here, choose a preferred date from my calendar or contact me with your baby’s birth date. The date you select is not the actual shoot date until I confirm it, but it gives us a starting point.
If your baby is older than the earliest newborn window (5 to 21 days after birth), you still have options. The Baby In Your Arms session is available for babies up to 2 months old, and the In-Home Lifestyle session is available for babies up to 3 months old.
Not necessarily.
The more posed studio newborn sessions usually work best between 5 and 21 days after birth. Older babies can still be photographed with an approach that depends less on sleepy newborn posing.
The Baby In Your Arms session and the In-Home Lifestyle session are the two options I usually recommend for older newborns.

That is normal. Newborn sessions include time for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and breaks. Some babies sleep deeply. Some are awake for part of the appointment. Some need more time in their parents’ arms.
I work with the baby in front of me and will not force a pose that does not make sense that day.
Choose Studio Deluxe if you want the most variety: posed baby portraits, parent images, sibling photographs, full-family portraits, and newborn detail.
Choose Baby In Your Arms if you want studio portraits focused on holding your baby.
Choose Mini Wrapped for a shorter studio session focused on styled wrapped baby portraits.
Choose In-Home Lifestyle when you want newborn photos in your home, with your baby photographed alone and with parents, siblings, and pets, and with the nursery or other familiar spaces included.

For studio sessions, dogs must be small to mid-sized, well-behaved, supervised, and kept off furniture. After their photos, it is usually best to have them wait outside or in the car when possible.
In-home sessions are often easier for families who want to include pets because the dog is already in a familiar space.
After booking, you will receive prep guidance and access to an online styling service.
Soft neutrals, light colors, gentle texture, and simple clothing generally photograph well. The outfits should feel connected without matching or distracting from the baby.
Wraps, headbands, bonnets, blankets, baskets, and newborn props are provided when they are included with your session.
Your prep guide will explain what to bring for your baby and family.
Focus on a few likely areas, such as the nursery, primary bedroom, family room, or another space with good light. Make the bed if we may use the bedroom, clear the nightstands, and move obvious clutter from the areas where your family may sit or hold the baby.
