What’s Included in the Newborn Deluxe Session and Other Details

Every part of the Deluxe Session is designed to support a relaxed, enjoyable experience. Here’s what you can expect when you book this newborn family photoshoot.
Session Length
You’ll have up to 3 hours in the studio. That time is intentional; it gives us room to feed, soothe, change diapers, and take breaks whenever your baby needs them.
Session Customization
After you book, I’ll ask a few questions to tailor the session to your color preferences and whether you want more baby-only portraits, more family involvement, or a balanced mix of everything.
Baby Portraits
The Deluxe Session includes 5–10 setups with a mix of wrapped and unwrapped baby portraits, styled across two color themes you choose, so your gallery has real variety while still feeling cohesive. Everything needed for baby portraits is provided in the studio (wraps, backgrounds, and newborn styling pieces).
Twins are welcome (with an additional fee that covers an assistant).
Family Portraits
Parent, sibling, and grandparent portraits are included. I typically aim for a complete set of combinations (full family, baby with both parents, baby with each parent, and siblings with baby).
Images + Selection
- The base price includes 25 hand-edited, high-resolution digital images that you pick from a proof gallery of 60–80 photos.
- Additional hand-edited images, as well as all family portraits from the proofs gallery, are available for purchase.
- Print release included with all purchased images, allowing unlimited personal printing.
Hand-editing is a more detailed and artistic process than basic color correction. It includes skin smoothing, blemish and bruise removal, and fly-away cleanup, giving your newborn photos that beautifully polished, yet natural finish.

Location and Timing
Sessions take place in my cozy and warm Downtown Kirkland studio. Sessions begin at 11 a.m. for soft, beautiful natural light.
Age Recommendation
Best between 5 days and 3 weeks old—sleepy, curled, and still in that dreamy newborn stage.

Wardrobe Guidance: What to Wear

You don’t need to know how to style everyone when you book your session. I’ll send a prep guide and help you plan outfits so it feels simple and doable.
A few guidelines that photograph beautifully in my studio and still feel like you:
- Stick to simple, timeless pieces (think: soft neutrals, earthy tones, gentle pastels)
- Avoid large logos or busy patterns
- Choose fabrics that feel comfortable to sit, stand, and hold your baby in
- Coordinate rather than match—your goal is a calm, cohesive look (not identical outfits)
If you’re unsure, that’s normal. You’ll have support before your session day, so you won’t have to guess.

“Lana’s motherly skills are just as impressive as her photography skills. Sample Galleries
Every newborn photographer has a unique shooting and editing style. Mine is natural, organic, and timeless. I use just the right amount of props to keep the focus on you and your baby.
What matters most is that you connect with the photographer’s style. This is one of the most important things to consider when picking a photographer to work with. The galleries below will help you decide whether my style is right for your family.
To make them easy to browse, I’ve grouped them into five categories: First Baby (Parents + Newborn), Newborn + Toddler, Newborn + Older Siblings, and Twins.
First Baby
If this is your first baby, this is the most common session flow: calm parent portraits, baby setups (wrapped and unwrapped), and the small details you’ll be glad you captured. Here’s what a complete Newborn Deluxe Session gallery looks like when it’s just the three of you.

In Client’s Words
“Lana has a remarkable talent for capturing those precious, fleeting moments of our baby's early days. Each photo felt like a work of art, filled with tenderness, and we were thrilled with the final results.” —Hanguang, Google review

In Client’s Words
“We booked Lana for our studio newborn session. She was flexible with finding a date when our little one came 5 weeks early and was very clear about what to expect and how to prepare for the session. Her studio setup is excellent, with every prop, headband, wrap, etc., you could want, and she poses the baby carefully and skillfully. Once the photos were edited, it was easy to navigate the gallery and select images for hand editing. We ended up upgrading to get all of our photos, because we just couldn’t choose out of all of the amazing shots she got! We will cherish these photos forever.” —Allison, Google review

Newborn + Toddler
Toddlers bring movement and additional personality. Here’s what the Deluxe Session gallery looks like when you’re balancing a new baby and a busy little person.

In Client’s Words
“Lana is a true artist. She took great care in creating beautiful images of our family. We did an outdoor maternity shoot with our toddler, followed by a newborn session in her studio. Both exceeded our expectations. She was wonderful with both our toddler and our newborn. Her studio is gorgeous, including her props and accessories. Highly recommend!” —Christine, Google review
Newborn + Older Siblings
Older siblings bring a different energy than toddlers, often calmer, sometimes a little reserved, sometimes very proud. These sessions typically include more family combinations, plus sibling moments that feel relaxed rather than overly posed.

Twins
Sessions for twins require additional logistics and a bit more prep to keep things safe and smooth. But the resulting gallery is a timeless mix of baby-only portraits and family connections.

Scheduling tip for families with twins:
To reserve a newborn session for twins, simply select the Newborn Deluxe Session and add the Twins option when booking. This ensures we have the time, support, and an assistant needed to create a calm and safe experience for both babies.

In Client’s Words
“We had the Maternity outdoor and Newborn studio package with Lana. It was an absolute dream to work with her. She made sure we were comfortable. Especially with the newborn shoot, you could see how magical she is with the baby! She was so patient and handled our boy with utmost care. I loved the color scheme that Lana works with. Muted and neutral. It looks so elegant and pretty. I cannot recommend her enough!” —Anika, Google review
Best Timing for Your Newborn Deluxe Session

When should we book?
I recommend booking during your second or early third trimester to reserve a spot. You’ll choose the date closest to your due date as a placeholder, and once your baby arrives, we finalize the exact session date.
What if the baby arrives early or late, or mom needs extra time to recover?
Completely normal. We adjust once your baby is here. While 5–21 days is ideal for the sleepy newborn look, sessions outside that range can still produce beautiful results. I’ll guide expectations and keep the experience calm.
Prefer to stay home during those early weeks?
You can also choose a relaxed, in-home newborn lifestyle session to capture beautiful, natural family newborn photos without leaving your home.
Artwork and Albums

Digital images are wonderful for preserving this season. The long-term joy, though, tends to come when those images turn into something you’ll actually see in your home.
The Deluxe Session is especially well-suited for artwork because you receive:
- Variety (family + baby + details) that tells a full story
- A cohesive look across two themes, which makes the album design and wall groupings feel intentional
What families often create from a Deluxe gallery:
- An heirloom album that holds the whole chapter (and becomes more meaningful every year)
- A wall series (family portrait + baby portrait + detail image)
- A single statement piece for the nursery or main hallway
Every purchased image includes a print release, so you’re free to print for personal use.
If you prefer a done-for-you option, I also offer a curated collection of museum-quality albums and wall art made with premium materials, and I’m happy to walk you through what fits your home during session prep or after your session.
Frequently Asked Questions

New parents often have questions, and this section is here to make things feel simple and reassuring. These are the most common things families ask when planning their newborn family photoshoot.
Newborn family photos focus on your connection, emotions, and the story of your growing family, rather than just the baby alone. Traditional newborn photography often centers on posed baby-only images, while family-focused sessions include parents, siblings, and the relationships that make this chapter meaningful. This approach captures the way your baby fits into your arms, the expressions between siblings, and the tenderness shared as you settle into early parenthood. The result is a gallery that feels personal, meaningful, and rooted in your family’s story.
The newborn stage is incredibly brief, and professional photos preserve the tiny details that disappear almost overnight. A trained newborn photographer brings years of experience in posing, lighting, baby safety, and styling to create images that feel intentional and timeless. What looks effortless in your final gallery is supported by careful planning, soothing, hundreds of frames, and detailed hand-editing. These images often become some of the most cherished pieces families own, growing more meaningful as your baby grows. For most families, the experience and the lasting value make it well worth the investment.

Look for someone whose style feels timeless to you and whose images you can see your family in years from now. Experience is also essential as newborn photography requires training in baby safety, posing, lighting, and creating a calm environment where you can relax. Pay attention to the photographer’s pricing transparency, communication style, and whether their process feels organized and supportive. It also helps to read reviews and see how families describe their experience. Most importantly, choose someone whose work and approach make you feel safe, understood, and genuinely cared for.

It’s completely normal to feel tired or still be recovering in those early weeks. Newborn sessions photograph beautifully anytime within the first 3 weeks, which gives you a little more time to rest, prepare, and settle in. And I’m always flexible, adjusting your session date to accommodate your needs. I provide a detailed prep guide to help with outfit planning, including recommendations for makeup artists to make getting ready feel easier. Once you arrive, I guide you gently through the session so nothing feels overwhelming. Many parents tell me the experience feels far more peaceful and supportive than they expected.
Newborn skin changes quickly, and things like flaky skin, redness, baby acne, and small scratches are completely normal. My editing approach is to soften temporary blemishes while keeping your baby’s skin looking real and timeless, with natural tones that will still feel true to this season years from now.
With jaundice, the best solution is often time. If your baby is noticeably yellow, it’s usually best to wait a few extra days for it to clear up naturally, rather than trying to “fix” it entirely in editing. If that happens, we can talk through your timing and adjust the session date when it makes sense.
The Deluxe Session is intentionally designed with plenty of time for soothing, feeding, and helping your baby settle. Awake babies also photograph beautifully, and I can capture tiny expressions, eye contact, and natural movements just as they are. Many families end up loving a mix of both sleepy and awake images. I adjust the flow based on what your baby needs in each moment, so everything still feels calm and seamless. Whether your little one sleeps soundly or stays alert, you’ll end up with a meaningful, well-rounded gallery.
It’s completely normal for toddlers to have big feelings or short attention spans during a newborn session. I structure the flow with this in mind, starting with sibling and family photos while they’re still fresh and giving them space to warm up at their own pace. I never force poses; instead, I guide gently and follow their energy to create natural, genuine moments. Mini breaks, movement, and simple prompts all help keep things positive. Even if your toddler is busy, shy, or uninterested, we always find ways to capture meaningful images of your growing family.
Absolutely. Grandparents bring a layer of love, history, and tenderness that adds so much meaning to your newborn gallery. If they’ll be joining, just let me know ahead of time so I can plan the flow and pacing accordingly. I keep these portraits simple, natural, and heartfelt, focusing on connection rather than posed perfection.
If anyone in the family is sick, I’ll ask you to reschedule for everyone’s safety and well-being, as I want the studio to remain a safe space for all families.
I recommend booking your newborn session during your second or early third trimester to secure a spot on my calendar. Since babies arrive on their own schedule, you’ll choose the date closest to your due date, and we’ll finalize the actual session once your baby is here. This approach gives you flexibility while ensuring I can accommodate you when your baby arrives. Booking early also gives you access to the prep guide and styling support, helping you feel ready well before the session day.

Babies rarely arrive exactly on their due date, so every newborn session is booked with flexibility in mind. Once your baby is born, you’ll let me know, and we’ll adjust your session date to a time that works best for your little one and your recovery. While the 5–21 day window is ideal for the sleepy, curled newborn look, sessions outside that range can still photograph beautifully. My goal is to make the scheduling process as relaxed and seamless as the session itself.
The Deluxe Session offers the most variety, time, and flexibility, making it ideal for families who want a wide range of setups and a more spacious, unhurried experience. With up to three hours in the studio, there’s plenty of room for soothing, feeding, sibling involvement, and multiple looks for your baby. It includes a larger variety of photos in your gallery and is especially well-suited for families planning albums or wall art. The Mini session is a shorter, simpler option for families who want beautiful newborn photos without as many setups or family portraits. Both sessions create meaningful images; it just depends on the level of variety and the session experience that you prefer.
