Family sessions involve real kids, real personalities, and people who do not necessarily spend much time in front of a camera. I do not expect you to arrive knowing how to pose, keep everyone engaged, or direct the session yourself.
I’ll guide the posing and family combinations, use movement when it helps, and adjust the pace when someone needs a minute. You can choose a shorter Mini or a fuller Deluxe, outdoors or in the studio, depending on the setting and amount of variety that make sense for your family.
I photograph toddlers, older children, grown children, grandparents, and extended families. The goal is photographs that feel natural and connected while still looking thoughtfully composed and finished.
I offer year-round outdoor and studio family sessions, along with seasonal sessions at selected times of year. The options below differ mainly in setting, pace, and how much variety you want from the gallery.

What this session looks like
An hour gives us room for both the classic portraits you expect and the more relaxed photographs that happen once everyone stops thinking quite so much about the camera.
I’ll guide where to stand, when to move, and when to bring smaller groupings in, while adjusting the pace if a child needs a reset. The gallery can include full-family portraits, individual children, siblings, parent-child photographs, grandparents, pets when included, and the smaller interactions that happen between the more structured images.

Up to 1 hour of shooting time. The extra time gives us room for more family combinations, movement through the location, and pauses when someone needs a minute.

The base price includes your immediate family and grandparents. For a larger extended-family group, add the Extended Family option for $200, covering up to 14 people.
During the session, we can photograph the full family, individual children, siblings together, each parent with the children, parents together, grandparents with grandchildren, and smaller family groupings that are meaningful to you. I’ll also make room for natural interaction, movement, and the in-between moments that happen as we work through the more structured portraits.
If particular groupings matter to you, let me know before or during the session so I can take them into account as I plan the flow.
Pets
Pets are permitted at most outdoor locations. If your dog is joining, please plan for a responsible adult to keep them securely controlled when they are not being photographed.
Location
After booking, I’ll send my current list of approved Greater Seattle outdoor locations with sample photographs. You can choose from the available options, or I can recommend a setting based on the season and the look you want. Available locations may change with season, access, and current conditions.
Appointment time
For the best light, this session usually takes place about 60 to 75 minutes before sunset. The start time may need to shift by up to 30 minutes depending on the light and weather, so it helps to keep your schedule a little flexible that day.
Prep help
After you book, I’ll send my family prep guide and give you access to the online styling service. The guidance covers clothing, preparing children, and the practical details that are worth thinking about before the session.

I monitor the forecast and will guide rescheduling when steady rain, high winds, or unsafe conditions create a real issue. Seattle forecasts can shift, so I may wait until the morning of the session to make the final call. Overcast skies are not usually a reason to reschedule.
Turnaround
I send the proof gallery within 4 days after the session. When selections are submitted within the 7-day selection window, final hand-edited images are delivered within 7 days after your selections.

Because this is a shorter studio session, I’ll help prioritize the combinations that matter most rather than trying to fit every possible grouping into the gallery.
Pets
Small and mid-sized dogs may join the Studio Family Mini.
Please give your dog a potty break before arrival, bring them in with clean paws, keep them off furniture, and keep them supervised and away from props and gear when they are not being photographed. Accidents, pet-caused damage, or excessive cleaning may result in a $100 cleanup fee.

This session takes place in my cozy, light-filled studio in Kirkland’s Market Neighborhood. There is usually free street parking in front of and around the studio.
Appointment time
Studio Family Mini Sessions are scheduled between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. This timing works best because the studio uses natural light.

I’ll use movement, simple prompts, short posed moments, and pauses when they are useful, then adjust as we go. I’ll make every reasonable effort to engage your children and photograph natural expressions, but no particular smile, pose, expression, or level of cooperation can be guaranteed.
The goal is to work with the children in front of me rather than make the entire session depend on perfect behavior.
Choose a Mini when you want a shorter, focused update and do not need the broader range of a full session.
Choose Deluxe when you want more time, more family combinations, location choice, a larger final gallery, or room for children to settle into the session at a slower pace. Outdoor Deluxe also includes grandparents in the base price and can accommodate a larger extended-family group with the add-on.
