Seattle Family Photography for Natural, Timeless Images at Every Stage of Growing Up
Many families first come to my work because they love the soft light, natural editing, airy outdoor settings, and the way the photos feel connected without looking overly posed. They are drawn to the LSP style because it feels natural, timeless, and centered on the family instead of trends.
But the photographer you choose also needs to know how to get that result with real kids, real schedules, outfit questions, and the normal unpredictability of family life.
I offer outdoor, studio, and seasonal family sessions for Seattle-area families who want photos that look beautiful printed, framed, shared, and lived with — with a clear plan behind the scenes.
You do not need to arrive knowing how to pose, how to manage every kid moment, or how to make everyone look connected. I’ll guide the session so you can be in the photos instead of trying to run them.
Whether you are photographing toddlers, older kids, grandparents, grown children, or a family reunion, the goal is the same: beautiful family photos that still feel like your family when you look back at them years from now.
How I Make Family Sessions Easier from Start to Finish

We will still make time for the classic portraits most families want. But the session will also include walking, holding, cuddling, playing, smaller groupings, and the in-between moments where everyone starts to loosen up.
The result is a mix of classic portraits, movement, connection, and the expressions that feel like your family right now.
That does not mean everyone has to match, wear only beige, or buy all new clothes. It means the clothing should support the photos instead of distracting from faces, connection, and the setting.
After booking, I’ll help you think through color, texture, pattern, comfort, and how the outfits work with your outdoor location or bright, minimal studio setting.
A good place to start is usually the person who feels hardest to dress, often Mom. Once that outfit is chosen, it becomes much easier to build the rest of the family around it with colors and textures that feel connected.
When steady rain, high winds, or uncomfortable temperatures are expected, we will move the session to another date. Cloudy skies are not usually a reason to reschedule. In many cases, soft overcast light is flattering and works beautifully for family photos.
The real question is whether the weather will make the session uncomfortable, unsafe, or unrealistic for your family. When it will, we adjust.
For families who would rather avoid weather and sunset timing completely, my Kirkland studio gives you a bright, minimal indoor option.
You can review pricing, compare session options, choose an available date, and pay the deposit online. After booking, I send the session details and prep information so you know what to expect before the day of your photos.
After the session, you will receive your proof gallery quickly, choose your images, and receive your final photos without the process dragging on for weeks.
Other years need more room.
Maybe grandparents are joining. Maybe extended family is together. Maybe your children need time to warm up. Maybe you want a fuller outdoor gallery with more movement, individual portraits, parent-child images, and small moments that happen between the posed photos.
That is why the session options are structured differently.
A mini session gives you a shorter, organized update. A deluxe session gives us more time and variety. A studio session keeps the planning simple. Seasonal sessions give your gallery a setting that only happens for a short part of the year.
You do not need the biggest session every year. You need the session that matches the people being photographed, the look you love, and how much variety you want from this stage.
But older kids change too. Missing teeth become braces. Little kids become tweens. Teenagers start looking more grown up. Grandparents age. Cousins who used to be small together are suddenly taller than expected.
Sometimes the reason for photos is not a stage. It is a gathering.
Grandparents are visiting. Extended family is in town. Everyone is together for a birthday, holiday, or reunion, and you know it may be a long time before that happens again.
For larger family sessions, I help plan the photos so we can cover the full group, smaller family units, grandparents with grandchildren, siblings, couples, and the combinations you will actually want later.
You can print on your own, make cards, share images with grandparents, post online, or save them for later. But your favorite family photos should not have to disappear into a folder you rarely open.
These are the photos your kids may pass in the hallway every day. The portraits grandparents keep in their home. The images you may come back to years from now and see differently because everyone has already changed again.
You may want one framed portrait, a small set of images for a hallway, gifts for grandparents, or an album that holds more of the full stage.
You do not have to decide that before the session. Once you see your gallery, I can help you choose what will look beautiful printed and how to turn those images into something you actually see.
Choose Your Family Session
Each section below explains the session options and what is included. Once you choose, online booking takes only a few minutes.
Family Outdoor Sessions
Choose the Deluxe Session when you want more time and variety. Choose a Mini Session when you want a shorter outdoor update with a streamlined plan.
Outdoor Family Deluxe Session

Outdoor Family Deluxe Session

What this session looks like
This is the most complete outdoor family option.
We will make time for classic full-family portraits, but we will not build the entire session around everyone looking at the camera for an hour. The longer session lets us create more variety: walking, sitting, holding, playing, sibling images, parent-child moments, individual child portraits, and quieter photos where your family starts to settle in.
With more time, the session can stay organized without feeling rushed. We can work through the important combinations, adjust when kids need a reset, and still leave room for the small moments that make the gallery feel more personal.
Choose this session when
- You want the most variety from one family session.
- You have multiple children or kids who may need time to warm up.
- You want individual child portraits, sibling photos, parent-child images, and a wider range of full-family photos.
- Grandparents are joining.
- You want more flexibility around movement, timing, and family combinations.
- You love the LSP outdoor style and want the fullest version of it.
Consider another session when
- You only need a shorter update.
- You prefer a bright, minimal indoor option without weather or sunset planning.
- You only need a small set of updated photos for cards, frames, or a quick milestone.
Images included
This session includes 25 hand-edited high-resolution digital images, chosen by you from a proof gallery of 80 to 100 images. Additional hand-edited images and a full gallery upgrade are available for purchase after you view your proofs.
Your purchased images include a print release for personal printing.
Session duration
This session includes up to 1 hour of shooting time. The extra time gives us room to move through the location, work through several family combinations, and let kids settle into the session instead of rushing every image.
Who can be included and what we’ll photograph
The base session price includes your immediate family and grandparents.
We can photograph the full family, individual photos of each child, siblings together, each parent with the kids, grandparents with the family, and naturally posed family images throughout the location.
To include additional family members, choose the Extended Family add-on.
Pets
Dogs are welcome at my go-to outdoor locations. Please plan for someone to hold the leash or help with your pup when they are not being photographed.
Location
This session takes place at one of my carefully selected outdoor locations in the greater Seattle area. After booking, I’ll send a curated list of location options with sample photos so you can choose the setting that matches the look you love.
Appointment time
For the best light, this session usually takes place about 60 to 75 minutes before sunset. The start time may need to shift by up to 30 minutes depending on the light and weather, so it helps to keep your schedule a little flexible that day.
Prep help
After booking, you’ll receive a detailed prep guide and online styling support.
You do not need to figure out outfits or what to expect on your own. The prep guidance will help you think through clothing, kid readiness, and the small details that make session day easier.
Weather and rescheduling
I monitor the forecast before outdoor sessions. When steady rain, high winds, or uncomfortable temperatures are expected, we will reschedule. Seattle forecasts can shift, so in most cases I wait until the morning of the session to make the final call.
Turnaround
You’ll receive your proof gallery within 4 days after your session. After you choose your images, final hand-edited images are delivered within 7 days of your selections.
Session price
- $900 + tax
- A $100 deposit is required to book this session. The remaining balance is due at the time of your session.
- Extended family: +$200 to base price, covers up to 14 people

- Additional hand-edited images: $20 each
- All images from the proof gallery, with color edit: $200
Outdoor Family Mini Session - Redmond

Outdoor Family Mini Session - Redmond

What this session looks like
This is a shorter outdoor session at one of my favorite Redmond-area locations.
We will move through the main images efficiently without trying to photograph every possible combination. The session still has direction, movement, and connection, but the plan is more streamlined than the Deluxe Session.
This option makes sense for yearly updates, holiday cards, a few new frames at home, or families who want the LSP outdoor style without a longer appointment or a farther drive.
Choose this session when
- You want outdoor photos close to home.
- Your schedule needs a shorter appointment.
- You are updating family photos more often.
- Your kids do best with a streamlined plan.
- You want beautiful family photos for frames, cards, grandparents, or yearly updates.
Consider another session when
- You want a slower pace, more variety in locations, or a larger gallery.
- Extended family members are joining.
- Your children may need more warm-up time before participating.
- You are drawn to the lake, mountain, and evergreen look of Rattlesnake Lake.
- You prefer an indoor session that does not depend on weather or sunset timing.

Outdoor Family Mini Session - Rattlesnake Lake

Outdoor Family Mini Session - Rattlesnake Lake

What this session looks like
This is a shorter family session with a stronger Pacific Northwest look.
Rattlesnake Lake gives us lake, mountain, and evergreen scenery without turning the session into a long outdoor adventure. We will move through the most important family combinations, use the setting for variety, and keep the pace manageable for kids with shorter attention spans.
This session is a good choice when the scenery is part of why you are booking. We will prioritize the full family, children, siblings, parent-child moments, pets when included, and a few wider images that show the lake and mountain setting.
Choose this session when
- You want a shorter session with a more scenic outdoor setting.
- You love the lake, mountain, and evergreen look.
- You do not mind driving to North Bend for a more distinctive backdrop.
- You want updated family photos without the fuller range of the Deluxe Session.
- You want the LSP outdoor style with a more nature-forward setting.
Consider another session when
- You want the shortest drive or a more local option.
- Your children need a slower session with more warm-up time.
- Extended family members are joining.
- You prefer an indoor option that is not dependent on weather, sunset timing, or outdoor conditions.
Images included
This session includes 10 hand-edited high-resolution digital images, chosen by you from a proof gallery of 40 to 60 images. Additional hand-edited images and a full gallery upgrade are available for purchase after you view your proofs.
Your purchased images include a print release for personal printing.
Session duration
This session includes up to 20 minutes of shooting time. Because the session is shorter, we will prioritize the main family combinations and the scenic backdrop rather than trying to create the broader range of a full Deluxe Session.
Who can be included and what we’ll photograph
The base session price covers immediate family only. Grandparents are welcome to join for an additional fee.
We can photograph the full family, individual photos of each child, siblings together, siblings with each parent, and photos with pets.

For this location, prep is especially helpful because the setting is more scenic and outdoorsy. I’ll help you think through clothing, shoes, layers, and the practical details that make the session easier.
Weather and rescheduling
I monitor the forecast before outdoor sessions. When steady rain, high winds, or uncomfortable temperatures are expected, we will reschedule. Seattle forecasts can shift, so in most cases I wait until the morning of the session to make the final call.

Family Studio Sessions
My studio gives you a bright, minimal setting for shorter updates, younger children, or an indoor family session that does not depend on weather, sunset timing, or choosing an outdoor location.
Studio Family Mini Session

Studio Family Mini Session

What this session looks like
This is a short family session in my natural light Kirkland studio.
The studio keeps the planning simple. You do not have to watch the weather, plan around sunset, or choose an outdoor location. We will use the bright, minimal studio setting for full-family photos, individual child portraits, siblings together, parent-child images, and a few quieter or more playful moments.
The look is simple and light-filled, with the attention on faces, connection, and the details that make this stage feel current.
Choose this session when you want updated photos without a full outdoor session, especially for younger kids, milestone-style updates, or an indoor option that is easy to repeat as children grow.
Choose this session when
- You want a shorter indoor session.
- You have younger children and want a shorter indoor session with fewer moving parts.
- You are documenting a milestone or updating portraits as kids grow.
- You like updating family photos more often without making each session a bigger production.
- You want a bright, minimal studio look that is not dependent on weather or outdoor conditions.
Consider another session when
- You want outdoor scenery, movement through a location, or sunset light.
- You want the wider variety that comes with a longer outdoor session.
- You are drawn to seasonal settings such as spring blooms, summer fields, or fall color.
Because the session is shorter, we will keep the rhythm clear and efficient. The goal is to create a strong set of updated family images without trying to do the same range as a full outdoor session.
If getting the Extended Family add-on, session time will be extended up to 40 minutes.
Who can be included and what we’ll photograph
The base session price covers immediate family only.
We can photograph the full family, individual photos of each child, siblings together, and siblings with each parent.
Grandparents are welcome to join for an additional fee. For other extended family members, please select the Extended Family add-on so there is enough time for the larger group.
Pets
Small and mid-sized pups are welcome in the studio.
Please plan for a potty break before arrival, clean paws on entry, and keeping your dog at your side during the session. Dogs need to stay off furniture and away from props or gear. A cleanup fee may apply if there are accidents, damage, or excessive cleaning needed.
Location
This session takes place in my cozy, light-filled studio in Kirkland’s Market Neighborhood. There is usually free street parking in front of and around the studio.
Appointment time
Studio Family Mini Sessions are scheduled between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. This timing works best because the studio uses natural light.
Prep help
After booking, you’ll receive a detailed prep guide and online styling support.
The studio setting is bright and minimal, so outfits do not need to compete with a busy background. I’ll help you think through clothing that feels coordinated, comfortable for kids, and appropriate for the simple indoor look.
Turnaround
You’ll receive your proof gallery within 4 days after your session. After you choose your images, final hand-edited images are delivered within 7 days of your selections.
Session price
- $500 + tax
- A $100 deposit is required to book this session. The remaining balance is due at the time of your session.
- Grandparents: +$35 each
- Extended family: +$200 to base price, covers up to 12 people
Post-session add-ons (optional)
- Additional hand-edited images: $20 each
- All images from the proof gallery, with color edit: $200
Seasonal Family Outdoor Sessions
These sessions are more date- and location-specific, but they give the gallery a distinct seasonal look: spring blooms, lavender rows, sunflower fields, fall color, or holiday settings depending on what is currently available.
The setting matters, but it does not take over the photos. Your family is still the center of the gallery.
Sunflower Field Mini-Session

Sunflower Field Mini-Session

What this session looks like
This is a shorter late-summer family session in a sunflower field.
The setting is brighter and more colorful, with warm yellow flowers and room for families to move, walk, and interact. We will keep the session streamlined, with time for full-family photos, individual child images, siblings together, and parent-child combinations.
The finished gallery has a cheerful seasonal feel without turning the session into a themed setup. Your family is still the center of the photos; the sunflowers create the setting.
Choose this session when
- You want colorful late-summer photos before the shift into fall.
- You like a brighter, warmer seasonal look.
- Your children enjoy walking, moving, and having space.
- You want a shorter outdoor session.
- You are comfortable with a working farm location and seasonal field conditions.
Consider another session when
- You want pets included.
- You prefer a softer, quieter look.
- You need a session that is not dependent on a seasonal farm setting.
Images included
This session includes all the good photos from your session, usually 30 to 40 images. These images are color-corrected but not retouched. Individual images that you want retouched can be purchased as add-ons.
Your images include a print release for personal printing.
Session duration
This session includes up to 30 minutes of shooting time. I will keep the session organized and manageable for kids.
Who can be included and what we’ll photograph
The base session price covers up to four people.
We can photograph the full family, individual photos of each child, siblings together, and siblings with each parent.
Additional people are welcome for an additional fee.
Pets
Pets are not permitted in the sunflower fields because of farm policies. When including your dog matters, one of the dog-friendly outdoor family sessions is the better choice.
Location
This session takes place at Lora’s Lees Family Farm in Duvall, WA. The farm is about 20 minutes from the Eastside and about 40 minutes from Seattle.
Appointment time
This session is scheduled 90 to 120 minutes before sunset. The start time may need to shift by up to 30 minutes depending on the light and weather, so please keep your schedule flexible that day.
Prep help
After booking, you’ll receive a detailed prep guide and online styling support.
For sunflower sessions, I’ll help you think through clothing that works with the warmer field color, so your family coordinates with the setting without competing with it.
- $550 +tax (up to four people)
- A $100 deposit is required to book this session. The remaining balance is due at the time of your session.
- Additional people are +$15 each.
Post-session add-ons (optional)
- Retouched (hand-edited) images: $20/each.
Family Session Questions, Answered
They do not need to be perfect for the session to work. Most kids need some time to warm up, move around, get silly, stay close to a parent, or take a quick reset. I expect that. I will guide the session with movement, simple prompts, shorter posed moments, and small adjustments as we go.
I’ll make every reasonable effort to engage your children and capture natural expressions, but children’s moods vary, so no specific smile, pose, or expression can be guaranteed.
The goal is to work with your kids as they are, not make the whole session depend on perfect behavior.
Choose a mini session when you want a shorter update, and your family does best with a streamlined plan. Minis are a good choice for yearly family photos, holiday cards, quick milestone updates, grandparents, or kids with shorter attention spans.
Choose the Deluxe Session for more time, more combinations, and more flexibility. The longer session gives us room for full-family portraits, individual child photos, siblings together, parent-child moments, movement, pets, and pauses when your kids need a little time to settle in.
The simplest way to decide: a Mini gives you a strong set of updated photos. The Deluxe Session offers the fullest gallery and a slower pace.
Choose an outdoor family session for natural light, scenery, movement, and an open setting that gives the photos an airy, relaxed feel.
Choose a seasonal outdoor session when you want your photos tied to a specific time of year or setting. These sessions rotate throughout the year and may include fields, blooms, fall color, tree farm, or other seasonal backdrops.
Choose a studio family session for the simplest planning option. The studio is bright, minimal, weather-proof, and easy to repeat as your children grow.
The choice depends on your kids, your schedule, the look you love, and how much time or variety you want.
My family photography style is for families who want images that feel natural, connected, softly edited, and centered on the people more than the setting or styling.
I’ll guide the session so you are not left wondering what to do, but I am not trying to make your family look overly posed or too perfect. The gallery usually includes a mix of classic portraits, movement, parent-child moments, sibling photos, and the little expressions that feel specific to your kids right now.
LSP is a good choice for families who love soft light, natural editing, airy outdoor settings, real connection, and photos that still feel like their family years from now.
Another photographer may be a better choice when someone wants a very dramatic, fashion-inspired, heavily posed, or highly themed session.
After booking, you’ll receive a prep guide and online styling support, so you do not have to figure it out alone.
A good place to start is with the person who feels hardest to dress, often Mom. Choose one outfit that feels good, then build everyone else around it with colors and textures that work together without matching exactly.
You do not need everyone in white or beige. Soft color, subtle pattern, layers, and texture can all photograph beautifully when the overall look feels connected and not too busy.
The main goal is for everyone to look coordinated while still being able to move, sit, hold kids, and feel like themselves.
It depends on the session.
The Outdoor Family Deluxe Session includes immediate family and grandparents in the base price. Other extended family members can be added with the Extended Family add-on.
The Outdoor Family Mini Sessions and Studio Family Mini Session include immediate family in the base price, and grandparents may be added for an additional fee.
For larger extended-family groups, the Outdoor Family Deluxe Session or the Studio Family Mini Session with the Extended Family add-on is usually the better choice, because we need enough time to photograph the larger group well.
For most outdoor family sessions, yes. My regular outdoor family locations are dog-friendly, and dogs are welcome in the Outdoor Family Deluxe Session, Redmond Mini, and Rattlesnake Lake Mini.
For the Studio Family Mini Session, small and mid-sized pups are welcome with a few studio rules: clean paws, a potty break before arrival, dogs staying off furniture, and no roaming near props or gear.
For certain seasonal sessions, pets are not permitted due to farm policies.
Most families update family photos about once a year, especially when their children are young and changing quickly.
That does not mean every session needs to be big. Some years, a short mini session is enough for updated portraits, holiday cards, or a few new frames at home. Other years, a longer session makes more sense because you want more variety, grandparents included, or a fuller record of this stage.
A helpful way to think about it is this: book family photos when something feels noticeably different from the last time. That might be a toddler who suddenly looks like a little kid, missing teeth, a new school year, grandparents visiting, older kids leaving less time on the calendar, or simply realizing your last family photo no longer feels current.
For outdoor sessions, I monitor the forecast before your session. When steady rain, high winds, or uncomfortable temperatures are expected, we will reschedule.
Seattle weather can change quickly, so I use the most accurate information available as your session gets closer. Overcast skies and normal seasonal changes are not automatic reasons to reschedule.
No. Settings can change from year to year and even from week to week.
I choose session locations carefully, but blooms, fields, foliage, weather, light, and the exact appearance of the location cannot be guaranteed. Your images will reflect the posing and editing style shown in the sample images for that session type, but every family and every outdoor setting is different.
The location adds the backdrop. Your family is still the center of the photos.
You’ll receive your proof gallery within 4 days after your session.
After you choose your included images, the final hand-edited images are delivered within 7 days of your selections, as long as your selections are submitted within the selection window. When selections are made late, the 7-day final-edit turnaround is no longer guaranteed.
Final images are delivered through an online gallery, with high-resolution files for personal printing and web-resolution files for online use.
After booking, you’ll receive the next steps for your session, including prep guidance and styling support.
For outdoor sessions, I’ll help you understand timing, location, what to expect, and how to prepare for the setting. For studio sessions, the prep is simpler, but you’ll still know what to wear, what to bring, and how the session will flow.
The goal is for you to arrive knowing what matters most and what you do not need to overthink.
Choose the session that matches your family, then use the booking button for that session. You’ll pick an available date, fill out the booking form, and pay the deposit to reserve your spot. The remaining balance is due at the time of your session.
What Families Say After Their Sessions
Most parents do not come into a family session wondering whether they want beautiful photos. They already know they do.
The bigger question is whether the session will work with their kids, their schedule, their outfits, and the normal unpredictability of family life.
These client notes are the part I hope you notice: families often arrive with those same worries, and they leave with photos that feel beautiful, personal, and worth the effort.
Experience You Can Feel During the Session
After photographing Seattle-area families since 2008, I know how much parents are managing before a session: outfits, timing, kid moods, weather, and the hope that the final photos will look as good as the images that made them choose LSP in the first place.
That experience shapes both parts of the session: the finished style and the way we get there.
I’ll guide the posing, pacing, and real-life family moments so the photos can feel natural without leaving you to manage the session on your own. The result is a gallery with the natural, timeless LSP look — built around your family, your connection, and the stage you are in now.
