The Deluxe Session is my most inclusive option. You’ll love it if you want a beautiful outdoor location, an extended, more relaxed photo shoot, and the most variety of photos. The location options are based on the season and usually require a 30-minute drive.

Planning Your Session

What should I expect from start to finish?

Great question! Here is an overview of the entire process and what you can expect from working with me:

Pre-Booking: You begin by learning about my services and picking the best one for your needs. I am a big believer in transparency and helpfulness. That’s why I explain my services in great detail on my website. I display my prices, add-ons, deliverables, and timeframes online so you know them beforehand, and there are no surprises. I have published thousands of photos in my portfolio and blog sections so that you can get a good feel for my style. And if you still have any questions before booking, I’m only a quick message away.
Booking: I’ve designed my scheduling process to be fast and hassle-free, ensuring your ease. You start by heading to my booking page and selecting your desired session. Next, you will pick the date and time from my calendar, fill out a short form, and pay your $100 deposit.
Session Prep: After I receive your booking, I will review it and send you a detailed prep guide within 1-2 business days. It will also include access to an online styling service. If you have booked the Deluxe session, you will get an email with location options for your session. I am also available to answer any questions via email or text.
A Few Days Before the Session: I will monitor the weather a day or so before your session. If we need to reschedule due to rain, I will communicate all the details. I will also email you specific location information and coordinates. Finally, you will receive an invoice for the remaining balance of your session.
The Day of the Session: We meet at the designated location and have an easy and relaxed session. I will guide and queue you so you always know what to do.
After the Session: You will receive your proof gallery within four days after your session to pick the photos that you want for hand-edit. After you see your proof gallery, you may decide on any upgrades. Please reply with your picks within seven days of receiving your gallery. After I receive your picks, I will deliver the final edited photos within seven days.
Beyond the Session: I am grateful and honored that you’ve picked me to help document and celebrate your family’s life. My mission is to help you create a collection of meaningful family photos through the years. I hope you will find my online resources and updates useful. You will also get priority access to all of my seasonal offerings.

What happens if it rains?

If it rains, I am very flexible and will work with you to reschedule your session. If we cannot find a date that works for you, I will refund your deposit. (You can also choose to convert your deposit into credit toward future sessions.)

If you have a flexible schedule, we can wait until the morning of your session to decide whether to proceed or reschedule. The weather forecast can be unreliable, so if your family is willing, we can still show up to the session. If we get rained out, we reschedule, and you will not lose your deposit. With this approach, I can shoot most of the time.

Also, don’t worry about cloudy weather. It adds a unique and moody feel to your photos, perfect for capturing tender moments with your family.

Where does the outdoor Family Deluxe Session take place?

The Deluxe Sessions take place at several beautiful locations around the greater Seattle area that I have carefully selected based on the season, looks, and convenience. Most of them will require 30–60 minutes of driving. However, they are not challenging to get to. I will provide you with options to choose from, including sample photos, after you book.

Which session is best for golden hour?

Although a sunny day is never guaranteed in Seattle, booking the outdoor Family Deluxe session gives you the best chance for golden hour.

What is the best way to dress for our session?

After you book your session, I will email you detailed prep information, including the outfit inspiration guide and online styling service, to help you look your best for the session.

You can also email or text me with any styling questions.

What if my kid doesn’t cooperate?

If your kiddo is not cooperating – don’t worry (because they will feel that). I will follow their lead and do my best to capture happy moments.

There will never be any pressure to look into the camera to smile. I have plenty of tricks to help get your kiddos engaged and interested, so 99% of the time, I can get you plenty of shots. (And for that 1% – we will work together to do our best.)

We are not good at taking pictures; will you guide us?

I will guide, prompt, and direct you the entire time, so you don't have to worry about a thing. I aim for natural-looking poses while also capturing candids along the way.

Where can I see your previous work?

Every photographer has a unique style, feel, and aesthetic in their photos. So before booking a session with me, I want to make sure that you resonate with my work so that I can meet your expectations and deliver photos that you’ll love. Can pets join the session?

Outdoor Sessions:

Pups are welcome to join us outside—nothing says “family” like wagging tails in the frame! All of my go-to locations are dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry sidekick along.

Give me a heads-up at booking: Mention that your dog will tag along, and I’ll plan the shot list accordingly.
Star moment first, then chill time: We’ll capture a few fun frames with your pup right away. After their cameo, please have a game plan—a leash, a comfy spot with a blanket, or a helper—to keep them safe and relaxed while we finish the rest of the photos.
Leash and essentials: A sturdy leash, water bowl, and a couple of high-value treats go a long way toward keeping tails wagging and noses pointing toward the camera.

Studio Session:

Small and mid-sized pups are welcome in my studio, but please follow a few house rules to keep everyone comfortable and safe.

Potty break before you arrive: A quick walk right before heading to the studio helps your dog relax and prevents any “uh-oh” moments on the spotless white floors.
Short and sweet cameo: The studio is full of delicate gear and props, so we’ll invite your dog in for their moment in front of the lens, then have them head back outside (or to the car) once we’ve nailed the shot.
Clean paws, please: My shooting area has bright-white floors. If you can carry your dog in, perfect; if not, a quick paw-wipe at the door works great. (Toss a small pack of wipes or a towel in your bag—thank you!)
Four paws on the floor: The white couches and chairs are reserved for the human stars. As adorable as pups look lounging, they’ll need to stay on the floor so everything stays photo-ready.
Skip the wanderings: New places are exciting, but sniffing and exploring studio props and gear may not be safe for your pup. Please keep your dog beside you at all times.

(A friendly heads-up: extra cleaning or furniture touch-ups cost $100, and I’d much rather save you that cost.)

Can I buy additional images?

A Mini-Session includes 10 hand-edited images (that you pick from a gallery of 40–60 photos), while a Deluxe Session includes 20 (that you pick from a gallery of 80–100 photos).

After you see your proof gallery, you can purchase additional hand-edited photos for $20 each. Information on purchasing additional images will be included with your online proof gallery.

In addition, a full-gallery upgrade is available for $200. It includes all the images in your proof gallery with a standard color edit (as they appear in your proof gallery, no hand-edit). Photos will be in full print resolution with print rights.

How often should we take our family pictures?

The sweet spot for many of my clients is to photograph their families once per year. I’ve also created a 10-year family photo plan to help you create a collection of family photos you’ll love.

When and how will I get my images?

You will receive your online proof gallery within four days after your session. You will have seven days to pick your images for the hand-edit. Seven days after you submit your selections, your hand-edited photos will be delivered via an online gallery.

If you purchase the full gallery upgrade, you will receive the download link within 48 hours of payment.

Color edit vs. hand-edit: what’s the difference?

Color edit includes an overall color adjustment to make the photos appear brighter, more colorful, and properly exposed.

In addition to the color edit, hand edit includes basic skin smoothing, removal of blemishes, bruises, and a few fly-aways, as well as more detailed color adjustments. It gives your photos a more “polished” look.

When and how do I pay?

Payments are made by credit card. A $100 deposit is required to book your session.

The remaining balance is due at the time of your photoshoot. An invoice reminder will be emailed to you a day before your session. The proof gallery is delivered after the payment is made in full.

Can I buy your session as a gift?

Absolutely. My popular services can be purchased as a thoughtful gift for special occasions, like baby showers, Mother’s Day, birthdays, and Christmas.
