Seattle Family Studio Portraits: Pricing, Session Highlights & FAQ

Hi, I’m Lana. I’ve photographed thousands of families since 2008, and as a mom of three boys, I know that “perfect behavior” isn’t a requirement for meaningful photos. My job is to take all the guesswork out: I’ll guide you every step of the way so your session feels relaxed and your images feel timeless.
My style is natural, light-filled, and connection-focused. I keep things simple (minimal props, clean backdrops, gentle direction) so your family stays the main focus. The result is a classic set of portraits you’ll love now and still feel grateful for years from now.
Family Studio Mini-Session Details
These sessions are designed to be short and sweet, which makes them especially popular for families with young kids, families who like to book every year (or every few months), and anyone trying studio family photos with me for the first time.
These are the kinds of photos that end up framed, gifted, and revisited for years.
Studio Minis are available year-round, and they’re a favorite during rainy Seattle winters and early spring.

Planning Your Session: Your Questions, Answered
Here’s the simple overview of how it works:

- Session prep: Within 1–2 business days, I’ll email your detailed prep guide (what to wear, what to bring, and what to expect). If you have any questions, you can reach me by email or text.
- Your studio session: We meet at my Kirkland studio, and I’ll guide you the entire time—posing, prompts, and kid-friendly flow—so you always know what to do. I’ll adjust based on your children’s ages and energy and keep things moving quickly (which helps everyone feel relaxed).

My studio is in Kirkland’s iconic Market Neighborhood, at 720 Market St Ste E, Kirkland, WA 98033 (Directions).
Families typically travel to me from across the greater Seattle area, including Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Mercer Island, Sammamish, Issaquah, Renton, Bothell, Kenmore, Shoreline, and even Tacoma and Everett.
Yes. There is usually plenty of free street parking in front of and around the studio.
If you’re late, we’ll absolutely make the most of the time we have, but the session will need to end at the scheduled time (so I can stay on track for the next family).
You’re welcome to bring your baby, but a Mini Session is not designed to be a newborn-focused session (newborn posing and pacing takes more time than 20 minutes).
However, for babies around 2–3 months, a Family Studio Mini Session can work beautifully. We will focus on baby-in-arms family portraits and a couple of simple baby-only images on the couch (please see photos above). Just keep in mind it will look very different than a dedicated newborn session: I will not do full newborn posing or prop setups during a Mini.
After you book, you’ll receive a detailed prep guide with outfit tips. In general, studio sessions photograph best with soft neutrals and simple tones, minimal logos/graphics, light layers and textures (knits, denim, linen), and coordinating (not matching) outfits.
If you want to run your outfit ideas by me, I’m happy to help.
You don’t need a perfectly cooperative kid for beautiful photos. I’ll follow their lead, keep things light, and use prompts that encourage real connection (not forced smiles).
There’s never pressure for everyone to stare at the camera the whole time. And, yes, I have a long list of kid-approved tricks that work far more often than they should.
Small and mid-size pups are welcome, with a few studio house rules to keep everyone comfortable and safe:
- Potty break before you arrive: A quick walk right before heading to the studio helps your dog relax and prevents any “uh-oh” moments on the spotless white floors.
- Short and sweet cameo: The studio is full of delicate gear and props, so we’ll bring your pup in for their moment in front of the lens, then have them head back outside (or to the car) once we’ve nailed the shot.
- Clean paws, please: My shooting area has bright-white floors. If you can carry your dog in, perfect; if not, a quick paw-wipe at the door works just as well. (Please bring a small pack of wipes or a towel with you.)
- Four paws on the floor: The white couches and chairs are reserved for the human stars. As adorable as pups look lounging, they’ll need to stay on the floor so everything stays photo-ready.
- Stay close: New places are exciting – please keep your dog by your side so they don’t wander near studio gear or props.
(A friendly heads-up: extra cleaning or furniture touch-ups cost $100, and I’d much rather save you that cost.)
Yes. Life happens, especially with kids. If someone wakes up sick, please reach out as soon as possible, and we’ll find the next available option.
Payments are made by credit card. A $100 deposit is required to book your session. The remaining balance is due by the session date (you’ll receive an invoice reminder the day before). Proof galleries are delivered once payment is complete.
Yes. You’ll receive a proof gallery of 40–60 images, and you’ll select the images you’d like hand-edited.
The proof gallery is delivered within 4 days of your session. Your selections are due within 7 days of receiving your proof gallery. Final hand-edited images are delivered within 7 days after you submit your picks.
If you purchase the full gallery upgrade, you’ll receive the download link within 48 hours of payment.
Yes. Your Mini includes 10 hand-edited images, and you can add more for $20 each.
You can also purchase the Full Gallery Upgrade for $200, which includes every image in your proof gallery with a standard color edit (exactly as shown in the proof gallery—no additional retouching).
Images are delivered in full print resolution with print rights.
Color edit is the polished, natural look you see in your proof gallery—overall color and exposure refinements for a cohesive result.
Hand-edit (retouching) includes gentle skin smoothing, removing temporary blemishes/bruises, taming flyaways, and more detailed finishing touches—while still keeping everyone looking natural.
