Come to my private Kirkland studio for a setting prepared for newborn photography, or stay home and let the spaces where these first weeks are unfolding become part of the photographs. Either way, I guide the session from start to finish.

A newborn session works best when the things we can plan are taken care of ahead of time—and there is still room to follow your baby once we begin.

Before your session, I help with clothing, what to bring, and the preparation that will actually matter. At my private Kirkland studio, I prepare the setting before you arrive. For an in-home session, I help you focus on the few spaces worth preparing, then work with your home and its light on the day.

During the session, I guide the posing and keep things moving without expecting your baby or older children to follow a fixed plan. Feeding, soothing, breaks, and changes of direction are all part of how I work.

I’ve photographed Seattle-area families since 2008. My role is to bring the preparation, direction, and experience so you do not have to figure out the session while you are in the middle of it.

How Newborn Sessions Work with Real Baby Life

Your baby does not need to sleep through the session. Some babies sleep deeply. Some are wide awake. Some settle quickly and others need more time being fed, held, or soothed. All of that is normal.

You do not need to know how to pose. Most parents are not thinking about where to stand, what to do with their hands, or how something looks from the camera’s point of view. I guide those details throughout the session.

Siblings only need to give us a few good moments at a time. Brothers and sisters do not need to stay engaged for the entire newborn session. Often, a few seconds of genuine connection are all I need.

I watch how your baby responds and adjust as we go. We can pause for feeding, give your baby time in your arms, simplify a pose, change the setup, or move to something that works better.

I do not keep pushing for a particular pose simply because it was part of the original plan.
The plan gives us direction. Your baby tells me when to adjust it.
You do not need to know how to pose. Most parents are not thinking about where to stand, what to do with their hands, or how something looks from the camera’s point of view. I guide those details throughout the session.
I guide the posing as we go—how to hold your baby, where to look, when to move closer, how to position a hand, or when doing less will make the photograph stronger.

That matters especially in the newborn weeks, when parents may already be balancing recovery, feeding, limited sleep, and the needs of another child.

You can pay attention to your baby while I take care of the posing and small adjustments.
Siblings only need to give us a few good moments at a time. Brothers and sisters do not need to stay engaged for the entire newborn session. Often, a few seconds of genuine connection are all I need.
Some children are ready to join in right away. Others want to watch first, stay close to a parent, or take a break and come back later.

I keep their part of the session simple and look for the moments they can realistically give us—a quick snuggle, a kiss, sitting close to the baby, or another small interaction that works for that child.

I would rather recognize a good moment when it happens than spend the session trying to manufacture one.
Your due date holds your place, not the final appointment. You do not need to predict exactly when your baby will arrive before booking newborn photos.

If your baby is already here when you book, you can choose a preferred date as a starting point and I will confirm the appointment.

The amount of styling depends on the session you choose.

Studio Deluxe and Mini Wrapped include planned newborn setups using pieces from my curated styling and prop collection. Baby In Your Arms is intentionally simpler, with the focus staying on photographs of your baby being held rather than on styled prop setups.

You will know what to expect before the session, and I take care of preparing the studio around the option you booked.
Your home only needs a few good places to photograph. For an in-home session, I am not looking for a perfectly decorated house. I am looking for useful light, enough room to work, and a few spaces that feel right for your family.
Usually, we only need a few areas with workable light. I help you focus on the spaces we are most likely to photograph rather than trying to prepare every room.

Start by Choosing Studio or In-Home

The studio gives us more control over the setting. Your home gives us more of your setting.

Choose the studio when you want to arrive to a space already prepared for newborn photography. Depending on the session, that may mean carefully planned newborn setups or a simpler approach centered on photographs of your baby in your arms.

Choose in-home when the nursery, bedroom, pets, and familiar surroundings of these first weeks are part of what you want to remember—or when staying home simply makes more sense for your family.

Both are guided, baby-led sessions. The real difference is not which one is better. It is what you want the setting to contribute to the photographs.

Newborn Studio Sessions

My private Kirkland studio gives me the ability to prepare much of the visual side of the session before your family arrives.

For Studio Deluxe and Mini Wrapped, that includes planning styled newborn setups using pieces from my curated collection. Baby In Your Arms takes a different approach: fewer styling elements, less emphasis on props, and more attention on the way your baby fits against you right now.

The three studio options are intentionally different. Rather than choosing by session length alone, think about the photographs you care about most: styled portraits of your baby, photographs with your baby in your arms, or a fuller mix that includes siblings and family.

Newborn Studio Deluxe Session

The longer appointment also leaves room for feeding, settling, and breaks without rushing from one part of the session to the next.

What the session looks like
We will create a mix of gently posed baby portraits, parent images, sibling photographs, family portraits, and newborn details.

The session includes five to ten setups with two color themes of your choice, along with wrapped and unwrapped photographs of your baby.

There is time for feeding, changing, soothing, and settling as we move through the session.

Choose this when
Choose Studio Deluxe for the widest range of newborn photographs in a single appointment.

It makes sense when parent, sibling, and family images matter as much as the posed baby portraits, or when you want enough variety for an album and framed wall art.

Another option may make more sense when
Choose Baby In Your Arms when the photographs you care about most are the ones with your baby held close and multiple prop setups are not important.

Before your session, I plan the styling so the setups work beautifully together. Wraps, textures, props, and small details are selected with the finished collection in mind.

During the session, we move through the three wrapped setups at your baby’s pace. There is still time for feeding, changing, soothing, and settling whenever your newborn needs it.

The result is a varied but visually cohesive collection that keeps the attention on your baby.

Choose Mini Wrapped when the photographs you care about most are styled solo portraits of your newborn and you would rather put the session time toward those images than a broader mix of baby and family photographs.

Newborn In-Home Sessions

An in-home session is not the studio experience moved into your living room. The value of photographing at home is that the place where everyday life with your baby is happening becomes part of the photographs. I usually work in only a few areas with good light—the nursery, primary bedroom, family room, or another comfortable space—and guide the posing and interactions as we move through them. I look for what photographs well rather than expecting every corner of the house to be ready. I travel to homes throughout Kirkland.

We photograph your baby alone, in your arms, with siblings, with pets, and with the family together.

We include the nursery, bedroom, nursing photographs when requested, and the small details that connect the images to your home.

When should I book newborn photos?

I recommend booking before your baby arrives by choosing the date on my calendar closest to your due date. That date reserves your spot. Once your baby is here, we confirm the actual session date.

What if my baby is already here?

It is still worth reaching out. If your baby is already here, choose a preferred date from my calendar or contact me with your baby’s birth date. The date you select is not the actual shoot date until I confirm it, but it gives us a starting point.

If your baby is older than the earliest newborn window (5 to 21 days after birth), you still have options. The Baby In Your Arms session is available for babies up to 2 months old, and the In-Home Lifestyle session is available for babies up to 3 months old.

Is my baby too old for newborn photos?

Not necessarily.

The more posed studio newborn sessions usually work best between 5 and 21 days after birth. Older babies can still be photographed with an approach that depends less on sleepy newborn posing.

The Baby In Your Arms session and the In-Home Lifestyle session are the two options I usually recommend for older newborns.

What if my baby is awake or fussy?

That is normal. Newborn sessions include time for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and breaks. Some babies sleep deeply. Some are awake for part of the appointment. Some need more time in their parents’ arms.

I work with the baby in front of me and will not force a pose that does not make sense that day.

Which newborn session should I choose?

Choose Studio Deluxe when you want the most variety, including styled baby portraits, parent images, siblings, full-family photographs, and newborn details.

Choose Baby In Your Arms when the photographs you care about most are of you holding your baby and you prefer a simpler studio session without styled prop setups.

Choose Mini Wrapped when you love styled wrapped newborn portraits and want a shorter studio session focused entirely on your baby.

Choose In-Home Lifestyle when you want to stay home and include the people, pets, nursery, and familiar surroundings that are part of your baby’s everyday world.

Should I choose studio or in-home newborn photos?

Choose the studio when you want a prepared photography space and prefer one of the three studio approaches, from styled baby portraits to a simpler session centered on your baby in your arms.

Choose in-home when you want to stay home and include the nursery, bedroom, pets, and familiar surroundings in the photographs.

Are parent and sibling photos included?

That depends on the session you choose.

Studio Deluxe includes parent, sibling, and family portraits, and pets may also be included.

Baby In Your Arms centers on photographs of you holding your newborn, and siblings and pets may also be included.

Mini Wrapped keeps the entire session focused on your baby, so parent, sibling, and family photographs are not part of this option.

In-Home Lifestyle includes parents, siblings, and pets, and grandparents may also be included.

Can grandparents be included?

Grandparents can be included in the Newborn Studio Deluxe Session and the Newborn In-Home Lifestyle Session. Choose one of those options when grandparents are important to include.

Can we include our dog?

For in-home newborn sessions, pets can be included naturally in your home while remaining safely supervised.

For Studio Deluxe and Baby In Your Arms sessions, dogs may also be included. Please let me know at booking so I can plan their photographs. When your dog is not being photographed, they must remain securely controlled by a responsible adult or be moved to another safe location arranged in advance.

For studio sessions, please plan for a potty break before arrival, clean paws, dogs staying off furniture, and no roaming near props or photography equipment. Accidents, pet-caused damage, or excessive cleaning may result in a $100 cleanup fee.

What should we wear for newborn photos?

After booking, you will receive prep guidance and access to an online styling service.

Soft neutrals, light colors, gentle texture, and simple clothing generally photograph well. The outfits should feel connected without matching or distracting from the baby.

Do I need to bring anything to the studio?

Wraps, headbands, bonnets, blankets, baskets, and newborn props are provided when they are included with your session.

How should I prepare my home for an in-home newborn session?

Focus on a few likely areas, such as the nursery, primary bedroom, family room, or another space with good light. Make the bed if we may use the bedroom, clear the nightstands, and move obvious clutter from the areas where your family may sit or hold the baby.

We need a few usable spaces, not a fully styled home.

Where is your studio located?

My studio is in downtown Kirkland at:

The studio is light-filled, private, and set up for newborn and family photos.

What time are newborn sessions scheduled?

Newborn sessions are typically scheduled around 11 a.m. for the best light. Timing may be adjusted when needed.

How soon will I receive my photos?

Your proof gallery is delivered within 4 days after your session. Final hand-edited images are delivered within 7 days after your selections.

Can I buy more images after I see the proof gallery?

Yes. Additional hand-edited images are available for $20 each.

Baby In Your Arms and In-Home Lifestyle also offer a $200 full-gallery upgrade with standard color correction. Studio Deluxe offers the same upgrade, excluding posed solo baby-with-props images. Mini Wrapped does not offer a full-gallery upgrade.

How does payment work?

A $100 deposit is required to book your newborn session. The remaining balance is due at the time of your session.

Do you photograph newborn twins?

Yes. Twins can be photographed with the Newborn Studio Deluxe Session. The twins add-on is +$500 to the base price.

Do you offer albums and framed wall art?

Yes. Custom, museum-quality albums, framed wall art, and canvases are available.
