Seattle Newborn Photography: Studio and In-Home Sessions

A calm, baby-led newborn experience with flexible scheduling, thoughtful prep, and clear pricing from the start.
You do not need to have everything figured out before you book. Whether your baby is still on the way or already here, I offer newborn options that are guided, flexible, and centered on your baby’s comfort.

You will choose the session that fits your family best, reserve your spot with a date near your due date, and receive prep guidance and styling help before the session. Once your baby arrives, we will confirm the actual session date. If your baby is already here and older than expected, you still have good options. Any professional photos in the first 3 months are better than no photos.

During the session, I follow your baby’s pace and guide you through everything, with time for feeding, soothing, changing, and breaks as needed. If your baby is awake or needs more time, that is completely fine. The goal is for the experience to feel calm, manageable, and well supported from the start.

Afterward, you will receive your proof gallery within four days, choose your favorites, and get your final hand-edited images soon after.

Why Seattle Families Trust Me with Their Newborn Photos

Photographing families since 2008: I have photographed thousands of families over the years, and that experience helps the process feel calm, clear, and well guided from the very beginning.
Newborn photos often happen during a season when parents are tired, recovering, and trying to make a lot of decisions quickly. My experience matters because it helps me keep the process simple and steady.

You do not need to come in knowing how newborn sessions work, what photographs best, or how to manage every detail. I guide you through it step by step.
A baby-led approach that stays flexible: Feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and breaks are built into the session. I follow your baby’s cues and adjust the session as needed.
This is not a rushed session experience where your baby has to perform on a schedule. If your baby needs to eat, be held, settle, or simply take more time, we work around that.

If your baby is awake, we can create beautiful awake images too. The goal is not to force one narrow version of a newborn session. It is to work with the baby and still create timeless images.
Safe, gentle handling throughout the session: Your baby’s comfort always comes first. I adapt posing and flow based on what feels safe and natural for your little one that day.
I keep newborn posing gentle and pay close attention to your baby’s cues. If something does not feel right for your baby that day, I adjust or skip it.

Safety always matters more than getting a specific shot. That is part of why the sessions feel calm and why parents can relax once they see how I work.
Simple guidance for parents and siblings: You do not need to know how to pose or what to do with your hands. I guide the session with gentle direction so everything feels natural and easy.
This matters especially when parents feel awkward in photos or are worried about how an older sibling will do.

I keep the direction simple and natural, and I help the session flow in a way that does not feel stiff or overly formal. You are never left trying to figure out where to stand, how to hold your baby, or what comes next.
Studio and in-home options: Some families want a more styled studio experience, while others want the comfort of home. I offer both, so you can choose what feels like the best fit.
Not every family wants the same kind of newborn session, and I do not believe in pushing everyone into one approach. Some families want a more styled studio session with wraps, props, and a calm, ready-to-go space. Others want to stay home, keep things simpler after delivery, include pets more easily, or document this season in a more natural way.

Offering both means you can choose the setting that truly fits your family, instead of trying to make one option work for everyone. That usually leads to a smoother experience, better fit, and photos that feel more natural to you.
Thoughtful prep before the session: You’ll receive a detailed prep guide and access to an online styling service, so you are not left figuring everything out on your own.
For studio sessions, I help you prepare so you know what to expect before you arrive.

For in-home sessions, I help you keep prep focused on the few things that matter most, like clothing and which rooms may work best. You do not need a perfect home, and you do not need to overthink every detail.

The goal is to give you clear guidance ahead of time, so you feel informed and supported.
Clear pricing and quick turnaround: Pricing is listed online, and you’ll know what is included before you book. Proof galleries are delivered quickly, and final edits follow soon after your selections.
You do not need to inquire just to see basic pricing. You can compare the session options, see what is included, and make your decision with real information.

After the session, the process continues in a clear, predictable way. Your proof gallery arrives within four days, and your final edited images are delivered quickly after you choose your favorites.
Flexible scheduling: You can reserve your spot before your baby arrives by choosing a date close to your due date, then we’ll finalize the actual session date once your little one is here.
This is one of the biggest stress points for new parents, so I try to make it simple. You do not need to know the exact date your baby will be born in order to book.

And if your baby is already here, it is still worth reaching out. Many families book after delivery, and older newborns can still be photographed beautifully, especially in the Baby In Your Arms Studio Session or the In-Home Lifestyle Session.

Pick a Newborn Session That Fits You Best

Newborn Session Questions, Answered

What should I expect from start to finish?

The process is meant to feel simple and manageable. You will start by choosing the newborn session that feels like the best fit for your family and booking it online with a $100 deposit. After booking, I will send a detailed prep guide, styling help, and any planning details you need. Once your baby arrives, we will confirm the actual session date. During the session, I will guide you through everything while following your baby’s pace and allowing time for feeding, soothing, and breaks as needed. After the session, you will receive your proof gallery within 4 days, choose your favorites, and receive your final hand-edited images within 1 week of sending me your selections.

When is the best time to have a newborn session?

The ideal time for a newborn session is usually between five days and three weeks after birth. Booking two to three months before your due date is the best way to ensure availability. If your baby is already here, please do not worry. Many families reach out after delivery, and I will always do my best to fit you in. For older babies, the Baby In Your Arms Studio Session and the In-Home Lifestyle Session are both excellent options.

For a deeper dive into timing, read: When to Schedule Your Newborn Photos: A Practical Guide for Real Life.

My baby is already here. Do you have last-minute availability?

Maybe, and it is always worth asking. Many families reach out after the baby arrives, so you are not behind. You can book from the available dates on my calendar, or reach out first to confirm availability before booking.

When scheduling, which day do I pick, and what happens if the baby comes early or late?

When booking, choose the date closest to your due date to reserve your spot on my calendar. Since babies arrive on their own schedule, we’ll finalize the actual session date once your little one is born. I build flexibility into my calendar for this exact reason.

What happens if my baby is fussy or won’t sleep?

That is completely normal, and it is never a problem. Every newborn session is baby-led, so we can pause for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and breaks whenever needed. If your baby is awake, we’ll simply create beautiful awake images. If your baby needs more time, we allow for that too.

How do you keep my baby safe during the session?

Your baby’s comfort and safety always come first. I keep posing gentle, follow your baby’s cues, and adjust or skip anything that does not feel right for your baby that day. Sessions are paced slowly, with time for feeding, soothing, and breaks as needed. For twins in the Deluxe Studio Session, I bring in an assistant to provide an extra set of hands.

We’re not good at taking pictures. Will you guide us?

Yes. I guide the entire session, so you never have to guess what to do. I’ll give simple directions for where to stand, how to hold your baby, and how to interact in a way that feels natural and looks beautiful in photos.

What’s the difference between Studio and In-Home Sessions?

Studio sessions take place in my natural-light Kirkland studio and have a more styled feel, with curated setups and professional props. In-home sessions are more relaxed and lifestyle-based, with the focus on natural family connection in your own space. Both create timeless images. The right fit usually comes down to whether you want a more styled studio look or a more natural at-home feel.

Do you photograph twins or multiples?

Yes. For twins or multiples, please book either the Deluxe Studio Session or the In-Home Lifestyle Session. Those options allow the extra time, flexibility, and support needed for a calm experience. For Deluxe Studio Sessions, I bring an assistant photographer, which is why there is an additional twin fee.

Can siblings or grandparents join the session?

Absolutely. Siblings can be included in any newborn session, and even the Mini Wrapped Session offers optional family add-ons. If you want grandparents included, the Deluxe Studio Session or In-Home Lifestyle Session usually works best because those options allow more time and flexibility.

Do you offer a Maternity + Newborn package?

Yes. I offer maternity + newborn package options for families who want to document both milestones with one simple plan. You can find the full details in my Maternity Sessions section.

Do you provide props, and can I include my own?

Yes. For studio sessions, I provide wraps, headbands, bonnets, baskets, blankets, and other newborn props that fit my timeless, natural style. For in-home sessions, I can bring a few simple items upon request.

You are also welcome to include a few small, meaningful items, such as a family heirloom or a handmade blanket. I do not recommend buying new props, since not all of them are designed with newborn safety or a cohesive look in mind.

What should we wear?

For parents and siblings, you’ll receive a detailed prep guide and access to an online styling service to help coordinate outfits for the whole family. Soft, neutral tones tend to photograph beautifully and keep the overall gallery timeless. For your baby, I provide wraps and outfits for studio sessions. For in-home sessions, a simple white onesie or soft neutral romper usually works beautifully.

Can I include my pet in the photos?

Yes. For in-home sessions, gentle, well-behaved pets are welcome. For studio sessions, well-behaved small and mid-sized dogs can be included, but they do best with a short, planned cameo and clean paws to keep the studio comfortable and safe for everyone.

How should we prep our home for the in-home session?

Please do not worry about having a spotless home. We’ll focus on just a few bright, naturally lit spaces, such as the bedroom, family room, or nursery. You do not need a magazine-perfect house. You only need a few areas ready for photos.

For a deeper dive into home prep, read: How to Prepare for an In-Home Newborn Session

Where is your studio located?

My studio is located in downtown Kirkland, with plenty of free street parking nearby. Most clients visit from the greater Seattle area, including Bellevue, Redmond, Mercer Island, Sammamish, Issaquah, Renton, Bothell, Shoreline, Everett, and even Tacoma.

Which areas do you service for in-home newborn sessions?

I offer in-home newborn lifestyle sessions throughout Seattle, West Seattle, Bellevue, and surrounding Eastside neighborhoods. My standard travel radius is 25 miles from Kirkland, and a travel fee applies for homes outside that radius.

Can I buy additional images?

Yes. Each session includes a set number of hand-edited images in its base price. After you view your proof gallery, you can purchase additional hand-edited images for $20 each. Depending on the session type, you may also upgrade to a partial or full gallery with standard color edit.

What’s the difference between color edit and hand edit? A color edit includes exposure and tone adjustments for a bright, natural look. A hand edit includes more detailed retouching, such as refined color work, smoothing skin, reducing redness, and cleaning up small temporary details for a more polished final image.

When and how will I get my images?

You’ll receive your proof gallery within four days of your session. Once you choose your favorites, your final hand-edited images will be delivered within one week of receiving your selections.

When and how do I pay?

A $100 deposit is required to reserve your session. The remaining balance is due at the time of your session. Payments are made by credit card.

Do you offer albums or wall art?

Yes. Every session includes a print release for the images you purchase, so you are free to print them for personal use. If you would rather not figure it all out on your own, I also offer heirloom products such as albums, wall art, and fine-art prints. If that interests you, we can talk through the options during your prep so I can help you choose what makes the most sense for your home.
