Seattle Sunflower Field Sessions

Family and maternity photos in a late-summer sunflower field at Lora’s Lees Family Farm in Duvall, with clear guidance, simple prep, and a 30-minute session plan.
Late summer moves quickly. One week you are still in summer mode, and the next week school, routines, and fall schedules start taking over.

Sunflower field sessions are a good choice when you want updated family photos with a brighter seasonal look before that shift happens. The tall yellow flowers, open field, and evening light give the gallery color and warmth without making the session long or complicated.

This setting is especially helpful for families with kids because there is room for movement. We can photograph everyone together, each child on their own, siblings together, and parent-child combinations without asking your kids to stand still the entire time.

This session can also be used for maternity photos if you want a cheerful late-summer field look instead of a quieter meadow, studio, or lavender setting.

You do not need to arrive knowing how to pose or how to make the session work. I will guide the posing, pacing, and small adjustments so you are not trying to manage everyone and figure out the photos at the same time.

FAQs

What if my child does not cooperate?

That is a normal concern.

Kids do not need to behave perfectly for this session to be worth doing. I keep the session moving, use simple prompts, and work with your child’s energy instead of expecting them to stand still the whole time.

The sunflower field gives us room to walk, hold, cuddle, explore, and take small resets when needed. I will make every reasonable effort to engage your child and capture natural expressions, but no specific smile, pose, or expression can be guaranteed.

What should we wear for sunflower field photos?

Cream, khaki, soft blue, chambray, white, tan, and gentle earth tones usually photograph well in the sunflower field.

You do not need everyone to match. The goal is for the outfits to feel connected without looking identical.

After you book, I will send prep information, outfit guidance, and access to the online styling service. You can also email or text me if you are deciding between a few outfit options.

Can this session be used for maternity photos?

Yes. This session can be used for maternity photos if you want a bright, colorful late-summer field look.

Because this is a 30-minute mini session, it is best when you want a simpler maternity session without the extra time, outfit change, or wider variety of a full outdoor maternity session.

Can pets join the session?

No. Pets are not permitted in the sunflower fields because of farm policy.

We are not comfortable in front of the camera. Will you guide us?

Yes. You do not need to know what to do with your hands, where to look, or how to stand.

I will guide the session with clear, simple direction so the photos feel natural without leaving you on your own. That may mean adjusting how you hold your child, giving you a place to stand, helping with angles, or using movement instead of asking everyone to look at the camera the whole time.

What happens if it rains?

I monitor the forecast before outdoor sessions. If steady rain or uncomfortable temperatures are expected, I will contact you before your session so we can reschedule.

If weather requires rescheduling and we cannot find a new date that works, your deposit will be refunded.

Overcast skies are not a reason to reschedule.

When will we receive the images?

Your photos will be delivered through an online gallery.

This session includes all good images from your session, usually 30–40 color-corrected photos.

Optional hand-edited images are available for $20 each.

When and how do I pay?

A $100 deposit is required to reserve your session.

The remaining balance is due at the time of your photoshoot. Payments are made by credit card, and an invoice reminder will be emailed before your session.

Your gallery is delivered after payment is received in full.
