Seattle Wildflower Field Mini-Sessions

A short evening session in a Redmond wildflower field, designed for families and expecting parents who want colorful, natural photos during a brief late-spring window.
For a short time in late spring, this Redmond field fills with purple lupines, tall grasses, and soft greenery. The setting has an open, natural feel, with flowers and grasses layered around your family and plenty of space for children to walk, sit, play, and explore. It brings color and texture to the photos without making the session feel too formal.

I’ll help you move through the field, hold your little ones close, sit in the grass, walk together, snuggle, and create the kind of simple connected moments that make family photos feel like you. Children do not need to stand still the whole time. The setting gives them room to explore while keeping your family at the center of the photos.

This session is a good fit if you want a colorful seasonal update without booking a full session. It works well for families with babies, toddlers, and young children, and it can also be used for maternity photos if you want a brighter late-spring field look with lupines, tall grass, and soft green layers around you.

The session is short, focused, and easy to plan. After booking, you’ll receive prep and styling support so outfits feel less stressful, and during the session I’ll guide the flow so we can use the time well. The location is especially convenient for families with smaller children, with easy parking and minimal walking to the field. Sessions take place in the evening, when the field photographs best, and availability is limited because the late-May bloom window is brief.

These photos are a way to remember one small season of family life: this spring, this age, this little window before your kids grow again or before the baby arrives. The flowers bring color and texture, but your family is still the story.

Planning Your Session: Your Questions, Answered

When are Wildflower Field Mini-Sessions available?

These sessions are available in late May, depending on the seasonal bloom window. The field changes quickly as spring moves into summer, so availability is limited.

What time are these sessions scheduled?

These sessions are scheduled in the evening, usually 60–75 minutes before sunset, when the light is softer.

Who is this session best for?

This session is best for families who want a short, colorful outdoor session with room for natural movement. It works well for children who like walking, sitting in the grass, being held, exploring, or moving a little between poses. It can also work for maternity photos if you want a brighter seasonal field setting.

Can this session be used for maternity photos?

Yes. This session can work beautifully for maternity photos, especially if you want a colorful outdoor setting with lupines, tall grass, and late-spring greenery. Maternity photos are usually best around 28 to 32 weeks, though every pregnancy is different. Because the wildflower field is only available for a short late-May window, this session is a good fit if that timing works well for your pregnancy.

Is 20 minutes enough time?

Yes, for a focused mini-session with immediate family. I guide the session efficiently so there is time for a mix of family, child, sibling, and parent-child images. A full deluxe session is a better fit if you want a slower pace, broader variety, or outfit changes.

What happens if my kids do not cooperate?

Kids do not need to behave perfectly for this session to work. I’ll guide your family through movement, snuggling, sitting, walking, and simple prompts to keep the session moving calmly. I can’t promise specific smiles or expressions, but I will make every reasonable effort to engage your children and capture natural moments.

What happens if it rains?

If rain is in the forecast, I offer flexible rescheduling. In many cases, I wait until the morning of the session to make the final call.

Can we bring our dog?

Yes. Pets are allowed for this session.

What should we wear?

You’ll receive a detailed prep guide and online styling support after booking. For this field, soft neutrals, cream, white, light blue, blush, dusty pink, mauve, soft florals, muted earth tones, and simple textures usually work well. Avoid neon colors, heavy logos, and bright colors that compete with the flowers.

When will we receive our photos?

Your proof gallery is delivered within 4 days after the session. Final hand-edited images are delivered within 7 days after you make your image selections.

Will my photos look exactly like the sample gallery?

No exact result can be promised. Flowers, light, weather, grass height, and field conditions change from season to season. The session is planned around the seasonal wildflower look, and your images will reflect Lana Sky Photography’s natural, timeless shooting and editing style.
