Seattle Lavender Farm Family & Maternity Sessions

Seasonal lavender farm photos in Sequim for families and expecting parents who want soft color, open fields, and a session that still feels centered on the people they love.
Lavender farm sessions are offered during a short mid-July bloom window, when the rows of purple flowers, green stems, open space, and warm evening light create a look you cannot get year-round.

This is the option to choose when the setting itself feels worth building a day around. It is not the quickest or closest way to update your photos, but that is part of what makes the final images feel different from a regular park or field.

The lavender is the reason to make the trip, but it is not the main subject. These photos are still about your child’s expressions, the way your kids move through this age, the connection between you, or the quiet anticipation of pregnancy before baby arrives.

Because the farm is private, we are not working around the same crowding you can run into at busy public seasonal locations. Once we are there, I’ll help with where to stand, how to move, and how to use the rows without making everything feel stiff.

A destination session does not mean your family has to arrive perfectly rested or ready to perform after a long drive. If your kids need a moment to settle in, we work with that. For maternity photos, I’ll guide angles, hands, movement, and where to look so the setting feels soft around you instead of overly posed.

Two options are available: a shorter mini and a fuller deluxe. Both take place at a private farm in Sequim during the mid-July bloom window, and both can be used for family or maternity photos.

Choose the mini session if you want a shorter lavender-field session and know your family does best with an efficient plan. Choose the deluxe session if you are making a special trip and want more time, more combinations, grandparents included, and a fuller set of images from the farm.

Because the farm is in Sequim, please plan for the longer drive and leave extra buffer before your start time. This session is best for families who are comfortable making the trip for a more distinctive seasonal setting.

Session Questions, Answered

Where do lavender farm sessions take place?

They take place at a private lavender farm in Sequim, WA. Because Sequim is farther from Seattle and the Eastside, please check your GPS before booking to make sure the drive feels manageable for your family.

When are lavender farm sessions available?

They are available during a short mid-July bloom window. Start times are scheduled close to sunset for the softest light.

Are lavender farm sessions better for family photos or maternity photos?

They can work well for both. Families often choose this setting for the soft seasonal color and open farm feel. Expecting parents may choose it when they want maternity photos with a more distinctive outdoor backdrop.

When is the best time to have a maternity session?

The best time for maternity photos is usually between 28 and 32 weeks, when your belly is clearly showing and you are often still comfortable enough to move around easily.

Lavender Farm Sessions are a little trickier to time because the bloom window is short, and these sessions are offered for only one week. If your pregnancy timing lines up with the lavender bloom, it can be a beautiful option.

I recommend booking at least a month in advance so you have the best chance of getting a spot and enough time to prepare.

Should I choose the mini or deluxe lavender session?

Choose the mini session if you want the lavender look in a shorter format. Choose the deluxe session if you want more time, more variety, grandparents included, and a fuller gallery from the farm.

Is the drive to Sequim worth it?

It depends on how much you love the lavender setting and how your family handles day trips. From Seattle or Bellevue, Sequim is often around two to two and a half hours away, depending on whether you take the Bainbridge ferry, drive through Tacoma and the Hood Canal Bridge, and how traffic or ferry waits look that day.

For some families, the trip contributes to the celebration instead of just adding drive time. The route includes evergreen forests, mountain views, and water, and you can turn it into a day trip with brunch, farm-stand ice cream, the Olympic Game Farm, Port Angeles, or Hurricane Ridge.

For maternity sessions, this can also become a small babymoon weekend before baby arrives. Port Angeles is close enough for an overnight stay, water views, and slower activities that pair well with a maternity photoshoot.

If your kids love ferries, that can be part of the fun too. Just build in extra time for ferry waits so you are not rushing to the farm.

What happens if rain is in the forecast?

I monitor the forecast before the session and will contact you if we need to reschedule because of steady rain or unsafe conditions. Overcast skies and normal seasonal changes are not reasons to reschedule.

Can grandparents join the session?

Yes. Grandparents are included in the Lavender Farm Deluxe Session.

Can we bring our dog?

Yes, dogs are welcome. Please make sure your dog can stay safely with you during the session.

What should we wear for lavender farm photos?

After booking, you’ll receive a prep guide and access to the online styling service. Soft neutrals, light colors, and gentle textures usually work well with the lavender setting.

Will the lavender look exactly like the sample photos?

Not always. I schedule these during the usual mid-July peak-bloom window, but the farm remains a natural setting. Weather, bloom timing, light, and field conditions can affect the final look.

I’ll use the best available rows, light, posing, and angles rather than promising an identical match to past galleries. Your images will reflect the same general posing and editing style shown in the sample photos, but they may not look exactly the same.

Who is this session not the best fit for?

This may not be the best choice if you want something quick, close to home, or with very little travel. If your priority is convenience, one of my local outdoor family or maternity sessions will likely be a better fit.

The lavender farm is best when the setting feels worth the drive, and you want the session to be part of a larger seasonal outing.
