A maternity session does not have to feel dramatic, overly posed, or complicated to matter. It can simply give you a record of this time: yourself, your family, your pregnancy, and the quieter weeks before baby arrives.
My job is to make the planning and the session feel easier, including the part many moms worry about most: being in front of the camera. You do not need to know how to pose or feel completely camera-ready before you arrive. I’ll guide your hands, posture, movement, angles, and where to look, whether you choose an outdoor location, a studio session, or a maternity + newborn package.
I’ve been photographing Seattle-area families since 2008, and I know how much easier it feels when the choices are clear before you book. How I Make Your Maternity Session Feel Easier
Clients have described the experience as feeling comfortable in front of the camera because they knew what to do along the way. That is the goal: flattering direction that helps you feel more at ease while still looking like yourself.
If older children are included, they do not need to be perfectly still or perfectly smiley the whole time. I’ll keep the session moving in a calm, simple order and work with the real energy we have.

Because we have up to an hour, I can build more variety into the gallery instead of trying to fit everything into a short sequence. We can make time for portraits of you on your own, photographs with your partner and children, belly-focused images, and quieter in-between moments.

I’d choose Deluxe if location choice, an outfit change, and a fuller gallery matter to you.
Not the best fit for
If you already know you want one outfit, a shorter session, and a smaller final gallery, one of the Outdoor Minis will probably make more sense.

During the hour, we can move between the white wall, soft curtains, bed, couch, bench, and chairs instead of limiting the gallery to one short sequence. That extra time also gives us more room for photographs of you alone and with your partner and children.

I’d start here if you love the Simply White look but want enough time for a fuller gallery, more combinations, and an outfit change.
Not the best fit for
If you want the same studio look but prefer one outfit, a shorter session, and a smaller final gallery, the Simply White Mini is likely the better choice.

This session gives us an hour to work with the different textures and areas of the downtown Seattle studio rather than building the gallery around one white setting. The brick, wood floors, curtains, and window light bring more warmth and variety to the photographs while keeping you and your family at the center.
Best for
I’d choose Rustic Lifestyle if you want the privacy of an indoor session but prefer warmth, texture, and more visual depth than the Simply White studio.
Not the best fit for
If you are most drawn to a simple, bright, all-white setting, one of the Simply White sessions will be the better match.

Maternity Session Questions, Answered
The ideal time for maternity photos is usually between 28 and 32 weeks, when your bump is nicely visible but you may still feel fairly comfortable. Every pregnancy is different, though, and some clients schedule earlier or later depending on how they are feeling, their due date, medical considerations, or family schedule.
I recommend booking at least a month ahead so you have the best choice of dates, especially weekend dates, which tend to book first. Booking early also gives you more time to prepare without feeling rushed.
For late-fall or winter outdoor sessions, I usually recommend scheduling a little earlier within the 28-to-32-week window in case we need to reschedule due to weather.
That is very normal, and it is one of the main things I help with during the session. I’ll guide your hands, posture, movement, angles, expressions, and where to look so you are not left figuring it out on your own.
After booking, you’ll receive prep and styling help so you can choose outfits that are comfortable, coordinated, and right for your setting. In general, soft colors, simple textures, and clothing that fits well tend to photograph beautifully. The most important thing is that you feel good in what you are wearing.
I do not offer a client wardrobe, but I do provide recommendations for where to purchase or rent dresses or maternity gowns that photograph well.
