Beautiful Summer Family Photos Near Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond & Sammamish
Five Eastside summer photo locations I return to often because they are scenic, practical for families, and close enough to make an evening session feel doable.
Last Update: May 29, 2026 • Family
You can probably picture the kind of summer family photos you want: soft evening light, kids with a little room to move, and a setting that feels like the Eastside without turning the whole evening into a production.
Then the practical questions start. How far do we have to drive? Is there parking? Will we be walking a long distance with a toddler? What happens if the session starts close to bedtime? Should we choose a shorter Mini Session or a fuller Deluxe Session?
That is why I do not choose family photo locations based on scenery alone. A pretty field or waterfront view only helps if the location also works for the people in front of the camera. For many families, the right spot is not simply the prettiest one. It is the one that gives us good light, enough variety, and a plan that still feels manageable with real kids.
If you are looking for summer family photos near Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, or Sammamish, this guide will help you narrow down your options. I will walk you through five Eastside locations I use often, explain which ones are available for Mini Sessions or Deluxe Sessions, and point out the small details that can make a big difference on session day.
I live in Redmond, my studio is in Kirkland, and I have spent years photographing families across the Eastside. Over time, I have learned that the best summer sessions usually come from two things working together: a location that photographs beautifully and a plan that respects real family life, including bedtime, walking distance, parking, bathrooms, kid energy, and how much time you want the session to take.

Who This Guide Is For
This guide is especially helpful if you want outdoor summer photos while still making the evening feel realistic for your family.
It is a good place to start if you are:
- Looking for family photos near Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, or nearby Eastside neighborhoods
- Trying to choose between a shorter Mini Session and a fuller Deluxe Session
- Planning around younger kids, bedtimes, snacks, parking, or walking distance
- Wanting updated family photos without driving far from home
- Expecting another baby and hoping to combine maternity and family photos in one outdoor session
The goal is not to make every location sound perfect for every family. Instead, it is to help you understand which setting and session pace will probably make the most sense for your family right now.

Mini or Deluxe: Start Here
Before you choose a location, decide what kind of session you want. The session type affects which locations are available and how much variety we can create.
A Mini Session is the shorter, more focused option. It includes 20 minutes of shooting time and works best when you want a simple yearly update without making the evening bigger than it needs to be. My outdoor family Minis are limited to Redmond-area locations, and I choose the exact spot based on the month, the light, and what looks best around your date.
A Deluxe Session gives us up to 60 minutes of shooting time. That extra time matters if you want more variety, a slower pace, full location choice, an outfit change, or enough room to combine maternity and family photos in one session.
The simplest way to think about it:
- Choose a Mini Session if you want a shorter, local update and are happy to use one of my Redmond-area locations.
- Choose a Deluxe Session if you want full location choice, more breathing room, and a wider range of images.
Neither option is better for every family. They simply solve different problems. Some families do best with a quick, clear plan. Others need more time for kids to warm up, grandparents to join in, or a larger gallery with more combinations.
What the Experience Tends to Feel Like
Outdoor family photos do not need to depend on everyone standing still and smiling perfectly at the camera.
I will guide you through the session so you are not left wondering where to stand, what to do with your hands, how to hold your child, or when to look at the camera. But I also leave room for movement, small breaks, toddler energy, and the in-between moments that often make the gallery feel like your family.
That balance matters outdoors. A good location gives us light and scenery, but a good session also needs a realistic pace. Sometimes that means giving a shy child a few minutes to settle in. Sometimes it means walking instead of forcing a pose. Sometimes it means choosing a location with easier access because bedtime is already close.
The session should feel directed enough to capture polished photos, but flexible enough to accommodate real family life.

How I Picked These Locations
After years of photographing families around the Eastside, I have narrowed my summer list to places that consistently work well for both the final gallery and the actual experience of getting through the session.
I look for three things:
- A backdrop that photographs well throughout the summer
- Logistics that feel reasonable for families
- Enough variety, space, or movement to keep the session from feeling too one-note
I am also paying attention to the details parents feel on session day: whether parking is nearby, whether there is a bathroom, how far we need to walk, whether kids can move safely, and whether the light works at a realistic time for families.
That is why these locations stay in regular rotation for me. They are not just pretty. They are workable.
I keep some exact location names private so they stay quieter and less overused. Once you book, I will send the meeting details and everything you need to get there.
North Redmond Location
This is one of my favorite Eastside summer locations because it gives families the meadow look without making the evening complicated.
A short walk leads to a path lined with tall grass and older trees, and the colors shift beautifully through the seasons. In June, the greens feel fresh and bright. By August, the fields often move into warmer honey tones. Both versions photograph well, but they create a different mood.
This is a strong choice when you want that classic Eastside summer feeling: open, warm, and still close to home.
Why I recommend it:
- Meadow scenery with tall grass and character-filled trees
- A tree line that can sometimes allow for a slightly earlier start time
- Nearby parking and a restroom
- Enough space for toddlers and young children to move naturally
- Available for both Mini and Deluxe Sessions
North Redmond Deluxe Session Gallery
A Deluxe Session here gives us more room to use the location to its full potential. We can move through different areas, create a fuller mix of family combinations, and give kids more time to settle into the session.

North Redmond Maternity + Family Deluxe Gallery
If you are expecting again and want to include your child, this is one of the more practical locations. The access is straightforward, the scenery feels soft and seasonal, and the Deluxe Session gives us enough time to photograph both maternity images and family connection without rushing through either part.

North Redmond Family Session with Grandparents Gallery
This location can also work well for photos with grandparents. The setting gives us enough room to photograph everyone together, then move into smaller combinations so grandparents do not need to be in every image unless that is what your family wants.

In Client’s Words:
“Our family has chosen Lana time and time again for our family photos, and she never disappoints. From start to finish, the experience is seamless and enjoyable, from booking and the photoshoot to the quick, efficient delivery of the final pictures. Lana’s talent shines through in every shot, and the results are absolutely stunning. We’ve received countless compliments from friends and family on how beautiful the photos are.” –Mingchanok, Google review
Southeast Redmond Location
If you love the fresh green look of early summer, this is one of the strongest Redmond choices.
This location tends to look best from late May through early July, when the grass is still lush, and the trees give everything a softer, greener feel. It is a good option for families who want outdoor photos that feel summery without having to drive far from the Eastside.
Because there is open space, this spot is especially helpful when kids need to move a little instead of staying in one place for the whole session.
Why I recommend it:
- Fresh green meadow color in late spring and early summer
- Taller trees that can sometimes help with an earlier evening start
- Open space for walking, movement, and playful family moments
- Pet-friendly setting
- Easy parking and a nearby restroom
This location is available as either a Mini Session or a Deluxe Session.
Southeast Redmond Mini Session Galleries
This location gives you a classic early-summer Eastside look: green grass, warm evening light, and enough room for children to walk, play, and interact naturally.

In Client’s Words:
“Lana is a wonderful photographer. Our session went smoothly, and the photos turned out beautifully. We will definitely be using her in the future.” –Lauren, Google review
This second gallery shows the more candid side of the location, with movement, play, and family interaction carrying the session instead of stiff posing.

Central Redmond Location
By mid-to-late summer, this Redmond park becomes one of my go-to options.
It has open fields, a quieter feel, and, during some parts of the season, a pond and wildflowers that add variety. Compared with the more enclosed meadow locations, this one can feel a little more open and spread out, which helps when families want room to move.
This is often a good choice when you want the session to feel relaxed, a little less busy, and rooted in the warmer look of later summer.
Why I recommend it:
- Beautiful late-day light, especially closer to sunset
- Open field views with a quieter feel
- Seasonal variety, including occasional wildflowers
- Easy access from central Redmond
- Tucked-away areas that tend to feel less crowded
This location is available as either a Mini Session or a Deluxe Session.
Central Redmond Mini Session Galleries
This gallery shows the warm, open feel this location can have in the heart of summer.

The second gallery shows how well it works for a softer late-evening look, especially when the goal is a relaxed update rather than a more formal session.

In Client’s Words:
“We did a mini session with Lana, and the entire experience was wonderful! I love the photos she captured of our family. Lana was so engaging and friendly, even my shy toddler was smiling and giggling in no time. She gave us helpful coaching and pointers throughout and also captured more spontaneous/organic moments. Lana’s also amazing to work with - besides photography, I think communication is one of her superpowers! She was quick to respond and was able to provide us with all the info we needed (and some we didn't realize we needed until later!) in a clear and conversational way.” –Kari, Google review

Downtown Kirkland Location
If you want more variety and less of a meadow look, Downtown Kirkland is one of the most useful options on this list.
This area lets us combine greenery, stonework, docks, shoreline, and Lake Washington into a single session. We usually start around the lawn at Heritage Park, then move toward Marina Park for waterfront images. The walk between the two areas is short and stroller-friendly, which makes the location easier than it may look on paper.
I usually recommend weekday evenings here when possible. Downtown Kirkland is beautiful in summer, but it can also be busy, and fewer people nearby usually make the session more comfortable for families.
Why I recommend it:
- Beautiful evening light on both the lawn and the water
- A lot of visual variety within a short walking distance
- A good choice for active kids who like boats, docks, or shoreline details
- Easy access to parking and restrooms
- A polished Eastside waterfront look without leaving Kirkland
This location works best when we have enough time to make good use of the variety, so it is available only with a Deluxe Session.
Heritage Park and Marina Park Deluxe Session Gallery
This gallery shows why the Downtown Kirkland route works so well for a Deluxe Session: we can move from greenery to waterfront without needing a long drive or a complicated plan.

Carillon Point Location
Carillon Point has a more polished waterfront feel, with docks, sailboats, boardwalks, and a marina setting that looks different from the Redmond meadow locations.
This can be a strong choice for families with older kids, multi-generational groups, or anyone who wants an Eastside waterfront backdrop with a little more structure. It is also a nice option if you want to turn the evening into something more, since there are restaurants nearby.
Parking is usually straightforward, but I still recommend arriving a little early so you are not rushing into the session. Weekday evenings tend to feel calmer than weekends.
Why I recommend it:
- Easy waterfront boardwalks and dock access
- Soft evening light reflecting off Lake Washington
- Several visual looks in one area
- A marina backdrop that feels different from the meadow locations
- Restaurants nearby, if you want to make the evening feel like an outing
This location is available only with a Deluxe Session. The extra time gives us room to use the setting more fully and keep the pace from feeling rushed.
Carillon Point Deluxe Session Gallery
This gallery shows why Carillon Point is a good fit for families who want water, docks, easy access, and a more polished Eastside setting.

Additional Considerations
Before choosing a date or location, here are a few practical details worth keeping in mind.
- Summer color changes as the season moves along. In June and early July, the grass is usually a vivid green. By late August, many fields shift to warmer honey-gold tones. Both can be beautiful, but they evoke different feelings in the final gallery.
- Weekend dates tend to book first. If a Saturday or Sunday matters to your family, it is better to plan earlier rather than wait until the season is already underway.
- Clouds are not a problem. Overcast skies can photograph beautifully and are not a reason to reschedule on their own. If steady rain or unsafe weather conditions are expected, I will reach out about rescheduling.
- Clothing can change the whole look of the gallery. These locations usually photograph best with simple, natural clothing. Neutrals, earthy tones, soft textures, linen, gauze, and lightweight knits all tend to work well in summer light.
- A little prep makes the evening easier. When outfits are chosen, snacks are packed, and the driving plan is clear, it is much easier to arrive ready to focus on your family rather than scrambling over the last few details.

FAQs
Mini Sessions are limited to my Redmond-area locations in this post. I choose the exact Redmond location based on the month, the light, and what looks best for your date.
Deluxe Sessions give you access to my full location list, including all five locations in this post.
Choose a Mini Session if you want a shorter, simpler session and a focused yearly update. Choose a Deluxe Session if you want more time, more variety, full location choice, an outfit change, or a wider mix of family combinations.
The Redmond locations are often the easiest fit for younger children because access is simple, and some locations allow for a slightly earlier start time thanks to shade. If your child has an early bedtime, I would usually start with that before looking at waterfront options.
Yes. Dogs are welcome at my outdoor family sessions. Keep your dog leashed when we are not photographing, and bring treats, water, and waste bags. It also helps to have a plan for where your dog will rest during any photos that do not include pets.
I keep an eye on the forecast before outdoor sessions. Overcast skies are usually fine and can photograph beautifully. If steady rain or unsafe conditions are expected, I will reach out about rescheduling.
Grandparents are included with a Deluxe Session. For Mini Sessions, grandparents may be added for an additional fee ($35 per grandparent). If you want to include a larger extended-family group beyond grandparents, choose a Deluxe Session and select the extended-family add-on when booking.
Your child does not need to behave perfectly for the session to work. I will guide the session with movement, simple direction, and small breaks when needed. Sometimes kids warm up quickly, and sometimes we work with their mood more gently. Either way, you do not need to force smiles or manage the whole thing yourself.
