What Makes the Newborn Deluxe Session Special

Before we get into the specifics, here is why many families choose the Newborn Studio Deluxe Session and why it tends to feel so manageable from start to finish.
A calm experience
You’ll have up to 3 hours during your session, so nothing feels rushed. There is time for feeding, changing, rocking, and settling your newborn as needed.
Gently guided, natural posing
You’ll always know what to do without feeling stiff or overly posed. I guide you into natural, comfortable positions that keep the focus on connection.
A wide variety of looks
We’ll capture 5–10 setups, including wrapped, unwrapped, natural, and gently posed baby portraits in two color themes you choose. The gallery has enough range to feel complete while still looking cohesive.
Designed for families
Siblings, parents, and even grandparents can be included. I guide your family through simple, natural posing that keeps comfort and connection at the center.
Ideal for heirloom artwork
The variety we create in this session works especially well for albums, wall groupings, and statement pieces.
An experienced photographer by your side
Since 2008, I’ve photographed thousands of newborns and families. That experience helps me keep the pace, posing, lighting, and baby-led flow steady and well-guided.
What’s Included in the Newborn Deluxe Session and Other Details

Every part of the Deluxe Session is designed to support a relaxed, enjoyable experience. Here’s what you can expect.
Session Length
You’ll have up to 3 hours in the studio. That time is intentional. It gives us room to feed, soothe, change diapers, and take breaks whenever your baby needs them.
Session Customization
After you book, I’ll ask a few questions to tailor the session to your color preferences and whether you want more baby-only portraits, more family involvement, or a balanced mix of both.
Baby Portraits
The Deluxe Session includes 5–10 setups with a mix of wrapped and unwrapped baby portraits, styled across two color themes you choose, so your gallery has real variety while still feeling cohesive. Everything needed for baby portraits is provided in the studio, including wraps, backgrounds, and newborn styling pieces.
Twins are welcome, with an additional fee that covers an assistant.
Family Portraits
Parent, sibling, and grandparent portraits are included. I typically aim for a complete set of combinations, including the full family, the baby with both parents, the baby with each parent, and siblings with the baby.
Images + Selection
- The base price includes 25 hand-edited, high-resolution digital images that you pick from a proof gallery of 60–80 photos.
- Additional hand-edited images, as well as all family portraits from the proof gallery, are available for purchase.
- Print release is included with all purchased images, allowing unlimited personal printing.
Hand-editing is a more detailed process than basic color correction. It includes skin smoothing, blemish and bruise removal, and flyaway cleanup, giving your newborn photos a polished but still natural finish.

Location and Timing
Sessions take place in my cozy, warm Downtown Kirkland studio. Sessions begin at 11 a.m. for soft, beautiful natural light.
Age Recommendation
Best between 5 days and 3 weeks old, when babies are often sleepier, curl easily, and still have that very new newborn feel.
Seasonal Florals (Optional Add-On)
If you love a soft, organic look in your newborn photos, you can also add seasonal florals to your session. I select blooms that complement your chosen color palette, keeping the overall look subtle and natural.
Turnaround Time
- Proof gallery: within 4 days
- Final edits: within 7 days after you make your selections
Artwork Options
Your Deluxe Session gallery offers a wide range of images that work beautifully for heirloom albums, framed statement pieces, fine-art canvases, and float frames. Every session includes a print release, giving you the freedom to print your images wherever you like for personal use.
If you prefer a done-for-you option, I also offer a curated collection of albums and wall art crafted with high-quality materials. I’m happy to walk you through those choices during session prep so you can choose what fits your home best.
Wardrobe Guidance: What to Wear

You don’t need to know how to style everyone when you book your session. I’ll send a prep guide and help you plan outfits so it feels simple and doable.
A few guidelines that photograph beautifully in my studio and still feel like you:
- Stick to simple, timeless pieces (think: soft neutrals, earthy tones, gentle pastels)
- Avoid large logos or busy patterns
- Choose fabrics that feel comfortable to sit, stand, and hold your baby in
- Coordinate rather than match—your goal is a calm, cohesive look, not identical outfits
If you’re unsure, that’s completely normal. You’ll have support before your session day, so you won’t have to guess.

To make them easy to browse, I’ve grouped them into four categories: First Baby, Newborn + Toddler, Newborn + Older Siblings, and Twins.
First Baby

In Client’s Words
“We booked Lana for our studio newborn session. She was flexible with finding a date when our little one came 5 weeks early and was very clear about what to expect and how to prepare for the session. Her studio setup is excellent, with every prop, headband, wrap, etc., you could want, and she poses the baby carefully and skillfully. Once the photos were edited, it was easy to navigate the gallery and select images for hand editing. We ended up upgrading to get all of our photos, because we just couldn’t choose out of all of the amazing shots she got! Newborn + Toddler
Toddlers bring movement and their own kind of personality. Here’s what the Deluxe Session gallery can look like when you’re balancing a new baby and a busy little person.

In Client’s Words
“Lana is a true artist. She took great care in creating beautiful images of our family. We did an outdoor maternity shoot with our toddler, followed by a newborn session in her studio. Both exceeded our expectations. She was wonderful with both our toddler and our newborn. Her studio is gorgeous, including her props and accessories. Highly recommend!” —Christine, Google review
Newborn + Older Siblings
Older siblings bring a different energy than toddlers, often calmer, sometimes a little reserved, and sometimes very proud. These sessions typically include more family combinations, plus sibling moments that feel relaxed rather than overly posed.

Twins
Sessions for twins require additional logistics and a bit more preparation to keep things safe and smooth. The resulting gallery is a timeless mix of baby-only portraits and family connection.

Scheduling tip for families with twins:
To reserve a newborn session for twins, simply select the Newborn Deluxe Session and add the Twins option when booking. This ensures we have the time, support, and assistant needed to create a calm and safe experience for both babies.

In Client’s Words
“We had the Maternity outdoor and Newborn studio package with Lana. It was an absolute dream to work with her. She made sure we were comfortable. Especially with the newborn shoot, you could see how magical she is with the baby! She was so patient and handled our boy with utmost care. I loved the color scheme that Lana works with. Muted and neutral. It looks so elegant and pretty. I cannot recommend her enough!” —Anika, Google review
Best Timing for Your Newborn Deluxe Session

When should we book?
I recommend booking during your second or early third trimester to reserve a spot. You’ll choose the date closest to your due date as a placeholder, and once your baby arrives, we finalize the exact session date.
What if the baby arrives early or late, or mom needs extra time to recover?
That is completely normal. We adjust once your baby is here. While 5–21 days is ideal for the sleepier newborn look, sessions outside that range can still produce beautiful results. I’ll help set expectations and keep the experience calm.

Artwork and Albums

Digital images are wonderful for preserving this season. The long-term joy often comes when those images turn into something you’ll actually see in your home.
The Deluxe Session is especially well-suited for artwork because you receive:
- Variety (family + baby + details) that tells a full story
- A cohesive look across, which makes the album design and wall groupings feel intentional
What families often create from a Deluxe gallery:
- An heirloom album that holds the whole chapter and becomes more meaningful over time
- A wall series (family portrait + baby portrait + detail image)
- A single statement piece for the nursery or main hallway
Every purchased image includes a print release, so you’re free to print for personal use.
If you prefer a done-for-you option, I also offer a curated collection of museum-quality albums and wall art made with premium materials, and I’m happy to walk you through what fits your home during session prep or after your session.
Frequently Asked Questions

New parents often have questions, and these are the ones that tend to come up most when families are deciding whether this fuller studio session is the right fit.
This session includes both. The Newborn Studio Deluxe Session is designed to give you a full gallery, which usually includes family portraits, baby with each parent, sibling photos, and a wide variety of baby-only images. If you want both the connection of family photos and the variety of posed newborn portraits, this is the session I usually recommend.
That is completely normal. Most parents are tired, recovering, and still finding their footing in those early weeks. This session photographs beautifully within the first 3 weeks, which gives you a little time to rest and settle in. I also stay flexible with scheduling if you need a bit more recovery time. Before the session, I send a prep guide to help with outfit planning, and I can also share makeup artist recommendations if that would make getting ready feel easier. Once you arrive, I guide you gently through everything so the experience feels calm and manageable.
Yes, I gently retouch temporary changes in newborn skin. Things like flaky skin, redness, baby acne, and small scratches are completely normal, and my editing approach is to soften them while still keeping your baby’s skin looking real and natural.
If your baby is noticeably jaundiced, the best solution is often to wait a few extra days for it to clear up naturally, rather than trying to correct it entirely in editing. If that happens, we can talk through your timing and adjust the session date when it makes sense.
That is never a problem. The Deluxe Session is designed with plenty of time for soothing, feeding, and helping your baby settle. Awake babies photograph beautifully, too, and many families end up loving a mix of sleepy and awake images. I adjust the flow based on what your baby needs in the moment, so the session still feels calm and unhurried.
That is a very normal concern. I plan the session with siblings in mind, usually starting with family and sibling photos while they are still fresh. I keep things gentle and flexible rather than forcing poses. Small breaks, movement, and simple prompts help a lot. Even if your toddler is shy, busy, or not especially interested, we can still create meaningful family images.
Yes. Grandparents are welcome in the Deluxe Session. If you would like to include them, just let me know in advance so I can plan the session accordingly. I keep those portraits simple and connection-focused.
If anyone in your family is sick, I will ask you to reschedule. That helps protect the other families I photograph in the studio. If that happens, we will simply move the session to a better date.
I recommend booking during your second or early third trimester to reserve a spot on my calendar. When you book, you will choose the date closest to your due date as a placeholder, and once your baby arrives, we will finalize the actual session date.
Babies rarely arrive exactly on schedule, so flexibility is built into the process. While this session is usually best within the first 5 to 21 days, I always adjust based on your baby’s arrival and your recovery. If you want a deeper look at timing, you can also read: When to Schedule Your Newborn Photos: A Practical Guide for Real Life.
The Deluxe Session is the fuller option. It gives us more time, more flexibility, more family involvement, and more variety in the final gallery. It is the better fit if you want both family portraits and a wider range of baby setups, or if you know you want enough variety for an album or wall art.
The Mini session is a shorter, simpler option for families who want a smaller set of newborn images with less variety and less family-focused coverage. If you want to compare all of my newborn options side by side, the best place to do that is my Newborn Sessions page.
