Seattle Sunflower Field Sessions
That is what makes this location so special. The sunflowers create an unmistakably late-summer setting, but your family remains the focus. We will use the rows for wide portraits surrounded by flowers, closer photographs, movement, and the small moments that happen while your children look around and explore.
The location also gives children something to do. They can walk, hold hands, look at the flowers, cuddle with you, and take a quick reset when they need one. I use that movement instead of expecting children to stand in one place and smile for the entire appointment.
I keep the session moving through a natural sequence that may include the whole family, each child on their own, siblings together, each parent with the children, and a mix of closer portraits and wider views of the field. For maternity sessions, we can photograph you on your own and include your partner or children.
You do not need to arrive knowing how to pose or how to make everything work. I will guide where to stand, what to do with your hands, how to hold your child, and when to walk, turn, or pull everyone in close. You can enjoy being in the field with your family instead of trying to direct the photographs yourself.
What’s Included in the Sunflower Field Mini Session:
Naturally posed family or maternity photographs with clear direction throughout.
A planned mix of whole-family portraits, individual photographs of each child, siblings together, and each parent with the children.
All good images from the session, usually 30–40 color-corrected digital photographs with print release for personal printing.

Farm admission for up to four people. Additional people may join for $15 each.
Sessions are usually scheduled 90–120 minutes before sunset. The starting time may shift by up to 30 minutes depending on the light and weather, so please keep your evening somewhat flexible.
Pets are not permitted in the sunflower fields because of farm policy.
Highlights from Past Years
Because sunflowers are seasonal, the field will not look exactly the same every year. The height and density of the flowers, the amount of green or yellow in the background, and the overall shape of the rows can change from one season to the next.
I choose the session dates using the best bloom information available, but peak flowers cannot be guaranteed. Your gallery will still follow the same family-centered approach and the natural posing and editing style shown here.

That is a normal concern. After photographing families since 2008, I do not expect children to behave perfectly or follow every direction immediately. I keep the appointment moving, use short prompts, and work with your child’s energy rather than asking you to force smiles.
The field gives us room to walk, explore, cuddle, look at the flowers, and pause for a quick reset. Sometimes the photograph that works comes from holding your child, walking together, or giving them something interesting to notice instead of asking them to look directly at the camera.
I will make every reasonable effort to engage your child and capture natural expressions, but a particular smile, pose, or expression cannot be guaranteed.
Cream, khaki, soft blue, chambray, white, tan, muted green, and gentle earth tones usually photograph well against the yellow flowers and green field.
You do not need everyone to match or dress in the same color. Start with one outfit you feel good in, then coordinate the rest of the family around it using colors that work together.

Yes. The sunflower field is a beautiful maternity option when you want a brighter, more colorful late-summer setting.
We can photograph you on your own and include your partner or children. I will guide your hands, angles, movement, and positioning throughout the appointment.
Because this is a 30-minute session, it does not include the additional time, outfit change, or broader variety available with a full outdoor maternity session.
I move through the session in a clear order so we can create variety without spending too long on any one pose.
For a family session, the photographs may include:
- everyone together

For maternity photos, we can create portraits of you on your own, with your partner, and with your children when they are attending.
The exact balance will depend on the number and ages of the people attending and how the children are doing that day.

I actively monitor the forecast before outdoor sessions. I will contact you 12–24 hours in advance if we need to reschedule because of steady rain or uncomfortable conditions. Overcast skies and ordinary seasonal changes are not reasons to reschedule.
If weather requires us to move the appointment and we cannot find another date that works, your deposit will be refunded.
No two sunflower seasons look exactly alike. The flowers may be taller or shorter, more or less dense, or at a slightly different stage of bloom than the field shown in the sample photographs. Weather and seasonal growing conditions can also affect the color and layout.
I use the best bloom information available when scheduling, but peak flowers cannot be guaranteed. Your photographs will reflect the field as it looks during that year’s sunflower season.
Your session includes all good images, usually 30–40 photographs. The complete gallery is color-corrected and delivered through an online gallery within seven days of the session.
Color correction adjusts the overall exposure, color, contrast, and consistency of the gallery. Individual skin retouching and more detailed hand edits are not included automatically, but they may be purchased for $20 per image.
A $100 deposit is required to reserve your session. The remaining balance is due on the day of the photoshoot. An invoice reminder will be emailed before the appointment, and all major credit cards are accepted. Your gallery is delivered after payment has been received in full.
Yes. You will not be left wondering where to stand, where to look, or what to do with your hands.
I will guide the small details throughout the appointment. That may mean adjusting how you hold your child, helping with your angle, showing you where to stand, or asking your family to walk or interact instead of holding one pose.
The direction is specific enough that you know what to do while still leaving room for natural expressions and interaction.
